Syracuse has an opportunity to jump out to 2-0 in the conference today in a huge game for them vs. Pittsburgh... I for one, will be rooting for the Orange... I think they're a great story and Doug Marrone has done a good job rebuilding that program...

That game, at Syracuse, is the only conference game of the day today... the standings as of this morning:

WVU 1-0 (5-1)
Syracuse 1-0 (4-1)
Rutgers 1-0 (3-2)
Cincinnati 1-0 (3-3)
Pittsburgh 0-0 (2-3)
Connecticut 0-1 (3-3)
Louisville 0-1 (3-3)
South Florida 0-2 (3-3)

It appears as though a wounded and angry Pittsburgh team has come to show Syracuse they're still not ready for primetime...

Pitt 35
Syracuse 7

3rd quarter

Rutgers ESCAPED with a win in overtime vs. Army today... thank god... the Big East saved some face there.

Updated standings after this week's play:

WVU, Rutgers, Cincinnati and Pitt all sit at 1-0 atop the league standings.

The parity in this league is astounding... 5 of 8 teams are 3-3 overall... 2 of the other 3 are 4-2... this thing is wide open.

With 8 ranked teams losing this week WVU should move up to about #20 I think... if they can take care of Syracuse and Connecticut they'd be 7-1 and probably ranked right around #10 in the country going into the game with UC, imo... would provide a big opportunity for the 'Cats to get a signature win this year, assuming they themselves take care of business vs. USF and Syracuse.
