I think the Big East hit a homerun with this hire. The most critical thing for the Big East is getting this TV deal right. Time will tell if Aresco can get it done, but based on his achievements with ESPN and more recently with CBS, I have to believe that he is the right man for the job.

Interview with the new commish. He makes a point to say the upcoming tv deal is, "Clearly job one." He makes the note that, "perception has to change," and that he is going to work tirelessly to get that done. It will be very exciting watching the football season play out simultaneously with the tv negotiations... ESPN better pony up BIG TIME if they don't want the rights to go open to the highest bidder!

He graduated from UCONN. Get your facts straight.

"Aresco is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Tufts University (B.A., magna cum laude, history); the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts (M.A., international relations), where he held a John Moors Cabot Fellowship, and the University of Connecticut Law School (J.D.). He served as a foreign relations staff intern in the office of former U.S. Senator Robert P. Griffin of Michigan and also as an intern in the Hartford Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, after which he practiced law privately in Hartford for several years."

Nice try Jason

This guy was involved in the creation of the Thursday night CFB games (greatly benefited UC), the "Bowl Week" and the new NCAA tournament TV deal with Turner Sports. Big Time visionary, big time hire.
