Big East Teams in the Tourney

Maaaaaaan, it feels good to see Eggs get their Arsse handed to them by a team we dominated on the road! Always getting better to be a Bearcat!

The only thing outside of UC winning that makes me happy is Xavier losing. Next would be UK going down. I am stoked right now. I would wish Xavier to lose in checkers. I don't follow womens basketball and I want their women to lose. The fact that they lost to a BEast team makes it even Sweeter!

Right there with you my friend! I am usually very respectful to any school and can always see the opponents arguments. BUT, with Xavier, not so much. I do not value anything their players, coaches, or fans have to say. They are the most ignorant and biased group of people I have ever seen. They never make valid points, never acknowledge the oppositions points and therefore, they can go suck an Egg.

This is OT but one of the most comical points I had a X fan say to me is that they were worried about Mack leaving to go to a "bigger" school. Please believe I ripped him with multiple points on why I could not stop laughing. After he went there, I realized it is pointless to try and talk with them.

Great point! Xavier will always be a stepping stone program until they get out of the piss poor A10

Big East finishes the first full round of play 7-4.

Georgetown, St. John's, UofL and Villanova are all headed home early. Though I was a homer and picked all of them to win their first round matchups the only loss I was truly surprised by was Louisville's.

If Pittsburgh ends up losing this game does Dixon start to get the reputation of a coach that can't win in the tournament?

He has to right? They have to make the Final Four this year. The bracket is as good as it will ever be for them. Or at least make the Elite 8. Anything less than that is unacceptable. 7.1 seconds left. Butler with the ball down 1. We'll see if Pitt survives.

Great play by Butler to take the lead followed by the biggest boneheaded play since Webber called time out.

Followed by an even BIGGER Boneheaded play. UNBELIEVABLE!! How do you foul in either of those situations? At least the UC game should start on time!

Why would you have anyone on the free throw line if you were Pitt at the end of the game. After the first make, Dixon should have pulled everyone off the line, as only bad things can happen. Just a lapse in coaching acumen.

Agreed. As bad as that foul was, it was an equally bad coaching decision.

Random NCAA Tourney thoughts

Who would have thought that Marquette, the 11th BEast team in, would have made it to the sweet 16? I surely didn't see that one coming.

I also didn't see Marq and UConn being the last of the BEast standing, especially at this stage of the tournament.

Richmond? Seriously???

I'd really like to see a VCU/Kansas matchup in the southwest bracket. VCU is a great case-in-point of a team playing with a chip on their shoulders.

and finally................

Kuck Fentucky.:D

This Hating on the Big East is killing me. Wilbon was at it on PTI and everyone else seems to be saying the same thing. Only two teams left out of 11. Yet none of them mention that two big east teams were knocked out by other big east teams.

But like you said, The only questionable team selected to the tournament from the Big East was Marquette and I'd say the sweet 16 berth answered all questions about that.

And as far as the Kuck Fentucky, I can't get on board with that. I'm pulling hard for UK.

My Axis of Evil is Kentucky, Xavier, Notre Dame and Ohio $tate, but O$.U is definitely the epitome of evil.

Now I could understand UK being at the top if you are a UC fan living in Kentucky

It can go both ways though- what if they didn't have those four teams playing each other? it may have helped getting 2 teams to the sweet 16 rather then just 1 or even 0.

One factor people overlook is the drain the Big East puts on you all season long. I think it was well known there weren't a lot of elite teams in the Big East, but top to bottom it was the strongest league in the country and deserved the bids it got. The non-conf record speaks for itself. The Big East dominated out of conference competition. As was pointed out, two teams were put out by other Big East teams.

That said, I knew when teams like Louisville were losing to Morehead St. the Big East would take a beating by the media. I don't sweat it. Would love to see UConn win it all and silence everyone. Pitt losing on a bonehead foul with 1 second left was more fodder for the idiots.

It definitely hurt them, Hell UC didn't lose a single game to anyone outside of the BEAST! Not only that, Uconn is a legit contender. More so than any other BEAST team, so I think they would have been in the Sweet 16 either way. Marquette has the advantage of playing against Syracuse's zone which many other teams outside of the beast struggle with. So I would say without a doubt it hurt the BEAST to have four teams play each other in the 2nd round.

For all the slamming the Big East has taken the last week plus, I think it is time for that to be focused on the Big 11. The Big East had 2 teams in the Elite 8. Big 11 zero. The Big East has 1 team in the Final Four. The Big 11 obviously has zero. Purdue got bounced early. Wisconsin got bounced early. OSU got bounced early. Yet, all you hear is Charles "I know nothing about college hoops" Barkley yapping about how the Big East sucks. As it stands now, either the SEC or ACC will be without a Final Four team. The Pac 10 will have zero final four teams as will the Big 11. Time to start shutting up about the Big East.

PS - How freaking good is Kemba Walker? Wow!

Big East had 11 of 68 teams or 16%
2 of 16 teams or 12.5%
1 of 8 teams or 12.5%
1 of 4 teams or 25%

Seems to me like they held up their end of the bargain based on the law of averages.
