Big East Tournament

It stinks that we get the noon games...can't watch them and we usually play better at night. Work will be turrible come Wednesday.

I might try for the extensive lunch break at a sports bar. It seldom works though...the last time it did, I was working in NYC and McNamara hit that damn shot at the buzzer kicking our asses out of the NCAA. Come to think of it, that reason alone is good enough to not do the sports bar route. F-ing McNamara.

Mick has a history of not playing injured players till he believes they are ready. He'll proceed cautiously.

I thought that's what he was going to do with Cash. He said he wouldn't play him until Cash was 100%...but instead, Cash was hobbling out there against Syracuse and hasn't been the same since. Hindsight is 20/20 but given all the losses...would we have been better off to rest Cash for a few weeks for the knee to recover? Tough to do that to a senior but now we have some operating at less than about 80%.

One of the many heartache stories for Cincinnati Sports Fans.....

Dear Providence,

Can we borrow Kadeem Batts for the rest of this year? It would be greatly appreciated, you can have any 2 of our current big men if we can have him.

Sincerely,
UC fan

I would kill for a big man like him for us this year. It would solve many problems......

Cash was cleared for and to play in the Marquette game and Mick chose to sit him. That's a cheap shot and I hate when people do that. There comes a time when you get as good as you're gonna get within an accepted time frame and then you suit up and go. Plus, from what I've heard Cash say, his shot is more a problem caused by his shoulder which has popped out repeatedly. He can oly extend his arm so fa from his body. Oh btw, Cash has scored 15 in each of his last 2 games.

I posted on another thread that Rubles has the tools to help UC score in the paint with drive and pull ups or finishes. If he could get past that habit of stopping on the way to the rim and looking back to pass, and not even look at the rim, he could offset to some degree the lack of a true low post scorer.

Anyone going to the BEast Tournament? I'll be there for the entire thing. Looking forward to it. The last time it will really be the true BEast.

Big East Tournament gets fond farewell - Enquirer article about the changes in the Big East. I liked Mick's comments below, you can almost feel the blood pressure of X fans rising from that comment.

“It’ll be sad,” said University of Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin. “Win, lose or draw, anybody who has played or coached in the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden is going to be sad to see it go. The way I’m going to look at it is that it was great to be a part of it. You were part of history. For as long as you’re alive, people will be talking about when it was the real Big East tournament, especially with 16 teams, how brutal it was.”

It wasn't meant to be a cheap shot. I'm not saying it was the wrong decision to play Cash beginning with Syracuse and beyond. I'm saying (1) Mick said he would rest Cash until he was 100%, (2) based on Cash's play, he's lost some quickness and you'd think it's because of that knee, (3) UC lost a bunch of games, so (4) with the benefit of hindsight, wouldn't you have just sat Cash.

I wasn't saying Mick's an idiot or poor coach for doing it. It just seemed inconsistent with saying he'd rest Cash until he was 100%. I really was just asking the question.

No kidding. That offensive show they put on against one of the top teams in the big east, heck in the country, certainly shows how far they've come this year!!!!

I was laughed at, ridiculed, insulted and harassed last year by scheids and the rest about winning the be tourney and they beat gtown and suckacuse . They were a couple horrible ref calls away from beating loserville

You are laughed at, ridiculed, insulted and harassed because you say the same thing about every game without ever actually putting in any thought.

Personally, I think UC would win the Big east tourney and NCAA tourney this year if they had John Riek.

Apples and Oranges.

In your case, Big Bird vs. Barney.
