Bishop Incident.....

The guy quit on the team, if what was has been speculated is true. You want someone like that back? I'm sure the rest of the team is just fine with him not being on it.

He got frustrated for 1 day and let everyone down. He never left campus. He tried to go to NYC and Mick said no and that was the right thing to do. But Rashad went to both of the games at UC in the NIT. I dont consider what happened unforgiveable.

Good news about Bishop coming soon. He will be back.

Again, nothing he did was unforgiveable. I think he will use what happened as a tool to get better.

Plus without Lance we do need Rashad. He is EASILY our best option at the 3.

He can bring the ball up, he can rebound and he can defend. Plus he is 6'6 and will be a senior.

Makes no sense to throw him off the team because he had a bad couple days.

Also it is now clear he didnt throw any punches. Not sure where this stuff gets started anyway.

With Bishop it is more than just a couple of bad days. His attitude issues go back to the 2008-2009 season as well.

BTW, thanks for removing my ban.

I like Bishop as well. He needs to think of team first, and himself second. If he does come back, hopefully a new lease on life will help provide an attitude check.

exactly. this isn't a "few bad days". Bishop has been a negative influence for a very long time now. The team is better off without him, and I don't care if he is our best option at small forward.

I am 100 % that I want Bishop back. WE DONT HAVE A SMALL FORWARD. He has scored 20 points in a Big East game before. He is our best defender.

He didn't rape nobody, he didnt kill nobody... (sorry but this is my ManRam comment that I had to get in)

But seriously he didn't do anything that was so off the wall. He is a very good rebounder too.

BRING HIM BACK.

I'm from the Huggins school of handling players on this one. If they make a mistake, admit it and try to make amends, give them a second chance (ala Eric Hicks leaving etc). If Bishop admits his mistake and does what he has to for the coaching staff and players, I'd love to have him back. If he doesn't 'repent', then cut him loose. As a senior, his defensive skills and his improved ability to hit 3's would be missed. Team chemistry, though, is critical...

Off season workouts started on Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing our guys gelling as a team and commiting to one another. CoachCroninUC (Mick Cronin), 4/8/2010 7:11 AM

I'd rather have guys that are committed to the team, the coach, and improving than a more talented athlete. I'm glad MC is making a point to stress how important the team psyche is.

I agree completely, I fear he is only coming back because Lance in gone.

Agree with the above. The only reason Bishop is coming back is bc Lance is out. This to me is a shame. I was very excited to get rid of some of these players and have our young guys step up.

I hate to be so negative but a majority of the players on our team are losers with bad attitudes. I thought with the influx of some winners we could change the landscape of our team. This apparently will have to wait another year. I've tried to be optimistic but i've seen more than enough from a few players on this team, Bishop included.

Regardless of what the incident was it is apparent there has been some sort of insubordination. What kind of message does that send to the young kids on this team? I already questioned how the players respected Mick now I am pretty sure I know the answer.

Time will only tell how this offseason will go for the cats, but I fear it is already off to a terrible start.

None of us know exactly what happened. What we have is rumor and conjecture and and supposed outcome based on those two things. If there are parameters set, and Bishop meets those parameters, and earns the respect of his team, then I don't have a problem with this. He has to earn his way back. My concern would be if he violates any of those parameters and Mick does nothing. That's what would send a negative message in my opinion. Bishop was punished. He was suspended for BEast tournament and the NIT. Couldn't attend the awards ceremony. I think that's harsh. That's a 5 game suspension and team activities. He's going to be a senior. His options are limited and he needs this as much as Mick does. He knows he has to work hard or play D2 ball. No good team is bringing a 1 year player with an attitude on.

This team needs leadership. I sincerely hope if he's back he can provide some positive energy, at least from effort.

I disagree here. Obviously there was a serious violation committed bc like you said he suffered a harsh suspension. Missing the complete post season isn't warranted bc he was late for meetings or missed study tables.

To keep a player in limbo this long sends a bad message. IMO it says lets wait and see how we look for next year. If we need you then you can stay, but if our team will be alright without you then heres your tansfer papers. It does not reflect the severity of the transgression committed but more of a "flip flop" attitude.

IMO Mick is better off cleaning house with some of the bad apples. Our to be seniors have demonstrated poor attitudes since they've been here. That is a very scary thought considering they are going to be "senior leaders" next year.

I'm concerned about Bishop returning to the team for many reasons.

However, he does add experience.

I'd rather him be gone than return.

Totally disagree that he has demonstrated a bad attitude since he's been here. Nobody had ever heard of Bishop being an issue till now. If he was a bad seen for 3 years it would have already been out. So I seriously doubt it has been an issue. Matter of fact, everybody loved him after his freshamn year. My guess is that's why he gets the break and chance at redemption.

bishop's issues did not start now. they have been going on for a long time, this is just the first time they really became public. he is not a good influence on the team.

I will argue until i'm blue in the face that Bishop is not a good influence on this team. Unfortunately it isn't like pro sports where you can clean house but we have an opportunity to get rid of bishop. If I were Mick I would take it.

We do not currently have the talent on this team to lack chemistry and positive contributors. The only way we can win is if we work together and work hard.
