I've been at every home game for a long long time and our student section, generally speaking, is an absolute embarrassment. First of all, it is rarely full, and often 50% to 75% empty. Only on important games do they occasionally show up in numbers, and only then are they somewhat rowdy, and occasionally very rowdy. They get in free and should fill those seats, or at least come close to filling them every game. To say that they have never been weak is totally false. My son is currently a student at UC, was a UC Cheerleader, is a member of various student spirit groups, and is a fanatical UC Basketball supporter and he is always commenting (and has for 4 years) about how pathetic our students are because they either don't show up, or do show up and don't make a difference in the amount of noise they make. But, in 3 or 4 big games a year, they are pretty good to incredibly good. Xavier game is always good, Louisville game is always good, UCONN is always good, maybe Memphis too. That's about it.

I actually do agree with this to an extent. There is no doubt that the students show up to big games but for the smaller conference games, and for the beginning of the season cupcakes it isn't a great number. I agree

I actually agree with you. I was a student from 04-08 and I think as a whole the student section is disappointing. I get the first home games this year have been bad teams but what else do students have to do? There's like what 20k students on or right off campus and we can't get 2k of them consistently? That's lame. I also don't understand rally cats. They put on this front on social media ie. Twitter like they are the huge supporter but then when the games come there have been maybe a couple hundred kids at best actually at the game.

They show up for the name of the opponent but not UC.

Well LT is right about the student section in general, but looks like they'll be there tonight at least.

Haha damn the students are getting put on blast today...glad to hear they're showing up for this one. Time to get on board with this team...tonight IT'S SHOWTIME!

It's pretty weak for the cupcakes which isn't surprising, but the student section so far has been very, very, small. Again, they've only played directional schools to this point.

Don't forget that two games were on Sunday afternoon and one was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. None are good times for students especially when the opponents are lackluster.

Ill be cheering them on from my season tickets in the Sky (bleachers Section 221).

But honestly, I know people complain about the views at Fifth third but for 99$, its a great view

I wonder how many of the people who complain about our students go to other arenas. Our student section compares very well in attendance and energy with almost anyone.

You don't really have to go to other arenas. Television shows and presents a good representation of student sections at all the major programs (AAC & Power 5) and I have to 100% disagree with you. We have one of the worst I've ever seen. It wasn't that way in the 90s and early 2000s, but it is definitely that way today. I'm literally shocked that anyone would say differently.

That C-Paw noise indicator on the wall used to stay lit back in the Huggs years. Today, we have to be playing X, or go on about a 20-0 run before the thing will barely inch its way up and lite up the C-Paw. Again, there's no excuse for the amount of empty seats we have in the student section considering we have had a strong winning program for a number of years now. At some of the games this year, there were more people in line at the restroom than were sitting in the student section.

I actually thought the student section was pretty damn awesome in Conference play for SK's senior year.

Give me a break bulldog. Say what you will about football, but the student section for basketball has never been weak

Been going to games since 94-95. Since huggs left the fan fare for basketball is horrible. X, Dayton, knu and Miami(oh) are all close or above us in fan fare. Unless we playing Louisville or X our games be weak

From 04-09 my friends mom gave us her season tickets. They was by the sweaters. First year in they moved us to sit with students because we were reckless

Keep in mind that the TV games are usually the big hyped games for other teams too. I've been to enough other places that I'm confident in saying we hold our own with them. There are very few places that can get any kind of student turnout for garbage opponents and I still think our students are good for the big games.

I don't disagree with your point that it used to be better here, but really only for a small stretch where we were literally a top 5 team in the country for some of that. Tough standard

I was at a Miami oh game last year, and they had about 1500 fans and 25 students. Not an exaggeration on either number. They get zero support.

Any more score predictions? Guesses on our Players of the Game?

I know I said it yesterday, but I really want Cobb to get back on track. I hope he comes out firing.

Either they stop selling tickets online 2 hours before the game or the game is sold out as Gobearcats no longer shows the Butler game as an option to buy tickets.
