I think Cash and Thomas will show the most improvement this year. Cash had some issues finishing around the rim but I think that will easily improve, if not on just sheer luck alone. I think many times he was just playing way too fast. With a year of experience under his belt the game should move much slower for him.

I'll be most anxious to see how he is distributing the ball once he gets into the lane. He seems to be able to penetrate whenever he wants, if he can slow down we should have a lot of open looks along the perimeter. Here's to hoping we have someone who can knock them down.

Typical of a first year pg. There are only a couple John Walls yearly.

I can agree with that, however Parker seemed more efficient. A guy who wasn't as highly regarded out of high school as Cash was. You dont have to be John Wall to not take crazy shots or turn the ball over.

Parker was more ready physically to play BEast basketball. Therefore he was better around the basket when finishing. Cash got a ton of shots at the rim. He lacked the strength to finish. His quickness and speed will be huge this season when coupled with another year of strength training. Look for Cash to be a solid 180-185, or a much stronger 175 and for many of those shots that were misses to fall this coming season.

Look, I'm not saying this kid will be all league. I really liked Parker as well and was on record saying he should have played more on other sites. What I am saying is Cash will be better this season. We saw some glimpses last season, but it's my opinion we will see a much more steady and consistent player. You will also see the two of them on the court together at times this season and they will be interchangeable at the point and wing.

I think people were too hard on Cash last year. For a freshman he didn't turn the ball over as much as some on here would have you to believe. He did get in trouble driving to the rim at times, but I tend to like the aggressiveness he showed when his surrounding teammates weren't running a fluid offense. He got better as each game progressed and by the end of the year seemed to be smarter about when to take it to the rim and when not to. I think after the Louisville game where he went nuts at the end of the game, Mick threw Cash out there late in games when the team was behind with the intention of taking it to the rim everytime to try to score quickly. He did the same with Vaughn as well. This led to some of what might have looked like wild play on his part, but he was following orders and was learning on the fly.

As far as Parker is concerned, he is not as good bringing the ball up the court as Cash is nor is his on the ball defense as good as Cash's was. And that's not a knock on Parker. Parker is better suited as a shooting guard. In an uptempo game, Cash created alot of turnovers. He also was at his best offensively in an uptempo game. We absolutely will see them play uptempo this year. Cash will show a great improvement and will be the floor general we need. He does need to work on his free throws. I'm hoping it was more just a mental thing, he should play more confidentily this year and that should help his free throw shooting.

I agree as far as bringing the ball up the court. Cash was much smoother. But I felt Parker's on the ball defense was just as good if not better than Cash's. Don't get me wrong, both's were solid.

I agree. I would rather see Cash get to the rim and miss a few layups than the offense stagnate and heave up a poorly attempted shot to beat the shot clock. At least when Cash missed, there were offensive rebounding opportunities, on which the team capitalized occasionally. I think if he can gain his confidence early in the out-of-conference run, those shots will start dropping, which will lead to an improvement in his all-around game.

Parker seemed to get beat by quick guys too often and would commit the foul. As a freshman that's not as big a concern for me as I expect him to get better. The Big East has their fair share of quick guards. I just think Cash has better defense against a PG. Parker's strength on defense doesn't seem to be on the ball. He plays smart and I'm sure can shadow a good shooter with time and opportunity. Lord knows we need a defender that can do that.

Larry Davis is pretty good at that. If only he could shoot too.

Devan Downey did the same thing as a freshman and he turned out to have a great career. You take your lumps as a freshman point guard to learn what you can and can't get away with. He will improve and in a more uptempo pace he won't be driving in the traffic of a half-court defense that has established it's position as much.

I will say yes, it was good to see someone try and take charge out there. I did feel that he was too out of control more often than not driving the lane. He left his feet too often causing him to make crazy passes or fire the ball at the backboard. Also showed he can shoot a decent jumper towards the end. Would like to see him pull up instead of driving in amongst the big guys.

I like it when Cash takes it strong to the basket. He has the athletic ability to finish around the rim and I think we will see that this year. I would like to see him develop a floater and pull up a bit more as well. The key is to mix it up and keep the big fellas guessing on D.

Doing that comes with experience. He has some of that now. I think we'll see good things out of Cash.
