We won despite the refs in this one, they let Florida State be alot more physical in the second half than us. But I am proud of our boys. They played tough, hung in there and MADE FREE THROWS!!!!!!!!!!!!

awesome pics and post.

There was one sequence of plays in the game that I thought summed up his career. He drove to the rim, looked a little awkward, pivoted, almost traveled, then had the ball knocked away, didnt quit, stole the ball back, and went up strong in traffic and got to the FT line.

I know a lot of people have been really critical of dion, including myself, but its really hard to not love his effort on the floor. He's no where near the most talented guy, yeah he takes bad shots and has some dumb mistakes, but he's probably more than maximized his physical abilities on the basketball floor and plays with as much heart and intensity as anyone, especially as an on the ball defender. Thank you Dion Dixon.

We all get annoyed by Dion but he is extremely tough and plays harder than anyone else out there.
And that steal he made is probably the biggest play for UC in 10-15 years. Good things happen to players who hustle their ass off.

Tough, tough win. That game was an absolute war. Love the heart of this team. I love that they are doing this without shooting well for an entire game. Go beat OSU!

Defense was good in both halves. Held Snaer to 2 points in the second half!

Proud of the Cats! They really earned that one! No benefit of higher seed upsets, off games from their opponents, or help from the refs. That was as intense a game as I can remember. Each possession was played like it was the last minute with the game on the line. Clearly I'm biased, but I haven't seen many guards outside of the Cat's that can rebound and hold their own against much bigger players.

Unrelated, in the close games this weekend. I was wondering, and there probably is an obvious answer, why teams don't pick up 3/4 pressure or light pressure when the trailing team is trying to save time by not picking up the ball off the inbounds pass. A lot of teams made it to halfcourt without lossing any time at all.

Big East teams remaining: Syracuse (beat them), Marquette (beat them), Louisville (beat them). Again this should illustrate we are AT LEAST one of the top 4 teams in the Big East this year.

The two other teams that we tied with for fourth within the conference (GU and USF) have been eliminated.

First time ever UC has beat a higher seeded team in the NCAA tournament according to ESPN last night.

Jeff, before I start this rant I want to say how much I appreciate your hard work on this site. You and all the folks who make visiting this site very enjoyable.

That said, a little history. I was a frequent poster on Cincinnati.com. They went to having to have a facebook account or you couldn't post anymore which led me to your site. While I was a poster on cincy .com the nonsense posted about MC was ABSOLUETLY deplorable. It went beyond unprofessional. You had Mick the Rat,Perkeronio,Mick can't coach and many more. Quite frankly I believe it is why they went to a facebook account for posting. Those posters were relentless in their daily insults. MC and his team have in my opinion finally buried the last remenants of the , If you fire Huggins we won't ever be back to support the program people. All the, he can't coach, sippin mick,no one gets better,he can't motivate and many more. All he did was prove them all WRONG. MC is the poster child for the toughness the Cats display on the court. The insults, small crowds and lack of appreciation for the mess he turned around was insufersable. Like his players he stood up and proved all of them WRONG. For all who stayed up late to watch our Cats grind out another victory lastnight in what is turning out to be a great season it is time to stand and say THANK YOU MICK for a job well done. For all who were short sighted, cruel and impatient go F**K yourselves.

WELL SAID! THANKS MICK! THANKS JEFF and OTHERS for the web sight! Jeff your right about Sanders! He will be a good player by his senior season!

CHEERS HOYT!!! Excellent post. It has been worth the insults I have gotten over the years when I tell people Mick is the man to lead our Bearcats for years to come. What is best is I don't have to say a word to these people, with one simple look and a smile I can call out there false allegations and inability to accept change within our program. Wow, this feels wonderful, but I always knew it would again!!

Terrible work by CBS Sports and ESPN. There are absolutely no good highlights to be found other than the Dixon steal/dunk.

What about the Gates block on the FSU big guy and Dixon's late game block?

Let's not annoint him John Wooden just yet. He has done a helluva job in the face of some very adverse circumstances. The past 2 seasons UC has peaked at the right time. I'm very happy for him. He has been treated horribly by a segment of people. He's been insulted, ridiculed, and mocked. Nothing he has ever done has been good enough or fast enough. I myself have questioned his ability to bring a team together. A question he has answered the past two years.

All because he had the balls and passion to coach at his dream job, against all professional advise, and in the face of severe circumstances he did not create. He has started from nearly nothing and improved his product every year. Even with a loss Thursday, he has led his team to another 26 win season, but gone another step further in the NCAA tournament.

He's done it with inferior talent. With limited fan support and a minimal budget. He's done it with a dismissive sports media. He has met every challenge with hard work and dedication and he's done it honestly and with class. All the while upholding academic and ethical standards. He's made UC a university and basketball program the city can be proud of. I believe he has earned the respect and support of both.

I heard them say that, too. I knew Huggins never beat a higher seeded team, but I'm hard pressed to believe somewhere back in the day we didn't beat a higher seeded team. Were we a #1 seed our two national title years? We went to five straight final fours during that run. Did they seed back then? I wonder if they meant since the field went to 64. Those guys didn't exactly spew excellence last night. One of them called Michigan State the Wolverines.
