Cincy receiving praise

It's not the opinion but the snarky factor in his comment. This is more of a personal annoyance for me and might not bother others as much or at all. It just seems that reporting, thoughtful commentary, and insight are giving way to snappy one-liners and media personalities trying to become the story rather than report on a story.

Goodman is really good friends with Chris Mack and has had a thing for putting UC down in the past. Always looking at them like they were mid major. Even after being ranked 13th and beating the 12th ranked team in the country his first question to Mick is "What does this do for your program?" As if we have never won a big game before. He is condescending and yes, a D bag. Also loved Mick's response basically telling him to suck it and we have championships and final fours.

It was between two writers who know each other. At least I didn't view it as snappy. No one truly believes SK can win the award unless he starts averaging about 30 points and UC make a national title run. McDermott has been crazy this year and is probably a lock.

I know McDermott is great and all, but did anyone realize that SK's ORating per KenPom is 0.1 points better than McDermott's? (edit: and that was before last nights game)

Saw this on twitter last night from @AndyGlockner

Agree with you. Even if we all agree he's worthy of POY, the best he can do this year is a distant 2nd. DMC has completely run away with it and rightfully so. He's making the new BE look like jv teams.

Just caught a re-run of Around the Horn on ESPN and they had a topic on Cincinnati. Two of the three liked their chances in the tournament comparing them to the Florida 2006 team that went from zero votes to champion.

I see this team a lot like Miami (FL) last year, they were a veteran team that got all the way to the #2 seed, and got to the Sweet 16.

I think that's a pretty decent comparison.

True, but mcbuckets has a higher usage rate than SK, and typically as usage goes up to the extreme ends like dougie, it's even harder to maintain efficiency and ORatings that high.

But SK is also a much much better defender.

Narrative though will make this vote unanimous for MCD, which isn't right. SK could average 35 9rebd and 7 asst the rest of the way on a high shooting percentage and still wouldn't win even though he should with performances like that.

McBuckets deserves POY. Nice to hear SK getting run though. He deserves some form of All American honors. The load he is expected to carry on an otherwise poor offense is very heavy, and he still gets it done efficiently.

Heard this on game day. They all had to selct their top players to for the best five. Digger picked sk on his.
Here a tweet that listed his 5:

Thankfully there aren't a lot of teams with great bigs this year, so I think we have a shot at a sweet 16 and possibly an elite 8. Once you get to the tourney, it's a crapshoot. If you get hot, you have a chance to make some noise. Heck, I still don't think that Kemba Walker UCONN team was the best in college basketball, they just went on a tear starting in the BE tourney.

Cronin did some hinting earlier this year about budgets and stuff. I don't recall him doing a lot of that in the past. I think the university needs to take this as a hint and step up. If Cronin is like me he is not going to beg for what he's worth or what he deserves. If enough time goes by with no action...he may not give UC the chance to counter another offer or big budget program. He has undoubtedly explained to the AD what he needs to compete with the big dogs time and time again. He is driven by wanting to be a great coach and compete for the biggest prize...if he doesn't see that opportunity here...he could leave out of necessity rather than preference.

It seems like ONO is on board with pay raises for the coaches. What Cronin wants is a bigger BB budget to work with for scheduling and recruiting. Hell, just put our budget in the top 50th percentile and it could make a huge difference. I am sure he would also like to hear some chatter about facility upgrades in terms of arena.

The BB program loses tons of money. The athletic department is hopelessly in debt. The school is cutting millions from its core missions. Do you think a bunch of working people should lose their jobs, and the university's mission further degraded, so Mick can fly first class, and sleep in a slightly nicer bed?

Sorry, but IMO they shouldn't get a cent they can't raise or earn themselves. Its a shame we don't have Papa John throwing money at the program, but that's the reality. Turning a public university into a charity for two millionaire coaches at the expense of the mission is an awful idea. When the entire school is facing year after year of budget cuts, increasing the budget of the most fiscally irresponsible, deficit laden area is absurd.

McBuckets, Fair, Parker, Thames, Kilpatrick RT @KPMX77: @SethDavisHoops your current all american team, name your starters and coach.

I think it is very possible that he is at least on one of the All-American teams...
