Kevin Ollie issues statement that says he's staying at UConn: "I have no plans to pursue other opportunities."

I haven't been that impressed with Ollie. I know he won a championship, which is very hard to do but prior to making that incredible run in the tournament the team had been a disappointment. Then again this year they were a disappointment with all the talent they had.

I agree with you. He is very good with his players but like you I'm not that impressed with his coaching. Taking nothing away from the National Championship but the point guard he had had a whole lot to do with that.

When I hear this I interpret as he is still in talks with OKC and looking to cover his tracks. I am not surprised they are interested in Ollie being an NBA alum. I guess I thought that when NBA teams are looking for CBB coaches the pecking order would start with Cal. There are so many ex NBA newcomers at coach that have succeeded it makes sense, but I think there are better "coaches" to pursue.

I saw that with Ollie's buyout it may be pricey so if they offer he is their man.

UConn's Kevin Ollie has removed himself from consideration for the OKC head coaching position, sources told @CBSSports. Story coming.

And, he's out again!

Like someone said before, I don't know why, if OKC is looking for a college coach, they wouldn't reach out to Calipari. I would have to imagine it would be enticing to him having Westbrook and Durant. That's better than getting a job with the Knicks or some other low level team. If Durant comes back healthy, that is a perennial playoff team and possible title contender. The odds of success go up dramatically when you have a core of those two players.

Kevin Ollie played with Durant his last year in the league and I guess they're still close. That's why they prefer him over Calipari. It would dramatically increase their chances of keeping Durant when he becomes a FA after next season. As for Donovan over Calipari...not as sure on that one.

Would be a hard job for the like of Donovan and Calipari to turn down. You come into a positon where you get a roster with Durant and Westbrook along with great pieces like Kanter and Ibaka? Sign me up.

Most teams are going to wait until after the Bulls are eliminated to hire someone. OKC in particularly should be waiting on Thibs.

@ESPNSteinLine
Early fave for OKC job clearly Billy Donovan but word in coaching circles is that Spurs assistant coach Ettore Messina is on Thunder's list

Who are the candidates for the Florida job?

Archie Miller, Gregg Marshall, Pitino , Jr. would have to be in the mix. What about Bennett(UVa) or Hoiberg(ISU) altho neither is likely to leave. And finally, J. Dawkins who won the NIT with Stanford this year.

Interesting list. Wasn't Richard Pitino with Donovan at Florida for a while? And I think Hoiberg may end up with the Bulls.

@JonRothstein
Florida has hired Louisiana Tech's Mike White as its head basketball coach, per the school. Replaces Billy Donovan.
