I think UC would be picked ahead of UCONN because we are better than they are in football and we aren't far behind them academically. Basketball, as far as results go, we are nearly equal. Louisville was picked solely on athletics.

We ARE NOT equal in basketball. Connecticut has won 3 National Titles in the last 15 years, Cincinnati hasn't made a Final Four in over 20.

Sorry, but that is just the reality. Connecticut's basketball program in a national power. Their women's basketball program makes 1.2 million a year alone....

The PAC 12 would have taken BYU over Utah but most BYU fans understand that they were not chosen because of their religious affiliation (and everything that it comes with including their demands regarding TV rights). The Big 12 was turned off by it (even when they were desperate to add members) and the PAC 12 was clearly turned off by it. They also cannot play games on Sunday which makes any arrangement other than football only a long shot. The PAC 12 doesn't need them now that they have Utah in the fold.

BYU didn't want to give up their football independence and didn't want to play any sports on Sunday. They have enough ofa following that the PAC 12 would still consider them.

In the very recent past we are. Connecticut is falling apart, they are plagued with recruiting violations and mass exodus of players. I would say if we played them 10 times the past year or two, we each would win 5 times. I don't care what they did 5 or 10 or 15 years ago, I care about now and so do the people behind conference realignment. The ACC doesn't make profits on what happened 15 years ago, they make profits on what happens now and into the future.

Hahahaha. I just outlined to you how Connecticut's woman's basketball team alone makes 1.2 million a year on Tier 3 rights. That is more than half of what UC will receive from its entire 2014 AAC TV contract. UConn is a brand name in college basketball, Cincinnati is no longer a brand name. Winning 3 National Titles in 15 years clearly makes them relevant for the TV networks.

They just got a transfer from former McDonald's All-American Rodney Purvis and have received a commitment from top 20 recruit Daniel Hamilton for the class of 2014.

Also, Cincinnati is very far behind UConn academically. They rank #63 in the US News Rankings, Cincinnati ranks #139. That is a 76 spot difference.

That difference in academics is nothing compared to the difference between UC and Louisville. Also, women's basketball has nothing to do with realignment, it's all men's basketball and football. They can certainly use it to supplement their pitch, but it isn't a main factor. Also, who cares who they bring in, we have yielded similar results. I think Mick is a better coach than the new guy they hired. Football, the biggest driving force of realignment, isn't even close. Lets compare the number of BCS games and BE championships we have vs. what they have.

For comparison, Louisville ranked #160. Therefore the difference between Cincinnati and Louisville is 21 spots.

If I recall, 76>21.

Here is a surprise. You are wrong again.

Coming from the guy who says that women's basketball is a big deal. The village called and they want their idiot back. Realignment is all about $$$, nobody cares about women's basketball, it's 70-80% football and 20-30% mens basketball.

HAHAHA, keep going kid. You said that it is all about the money. I just showed you how even their women's basketball team is extremely profitable to the SNY TV networks. They are in a much better position than Cincinnati primarily because UConn is the only major draw in the state and therefore they can pull of deals like that for smaller sports. Oh and they have made a BCS Bowl more recently and won a NCAA tournament Title just two years ago.

It's not about women's basketball. It's not about men's basketball. It's not about how much money your program makes in terms of attendance. It's about football and it's been about how much money can you make the rest of the teams in a conference through TV rights. If you increase the overall pie, you are in. If you don't, you are out. This is why UC is not in yet and why UC will find a home before UCONN should it come down to it

Below shows the value of UConn to TV networks:

"The multimedia rights agreement UConn inked with IMG College in September 2008 provides the school with a guaranteed $80 million over 10 years. The deal includes radio broadcast rights, signage, corporate partners, game programs as well as numerous other tasks and expenses that the school had performed in-house."

Connecticut and BYU are clearly the most valuable TV commodities that are not currently in the Power 5. Cincinnati is probably in the next tier.

$8 Million per year. That's nice but not exactly a game changer. Once again, it's not about how much money a university gets, it's about how much money you bring to the rest of the universities through TV money. That is dictated on media market as much as anything else. There is not a big media market in Connecticut. Cincinnati is at or around 30. Of course, you have to be a big draw in your market and a solid program (which is why UCF and USF will struggle to find a home) for it to make sense but if your addition doesn't add viewers, you can forget about it.

Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione on Sirius XM College: I don't believe realignment is over.

I don't think this is too much of a surprise. Should the power 5 split away, more teams will equal more money. It is not the case currently, but they will need more teams to fill tv spots.
