I'll save the analysis for others who want to take it on.

Just win.

X is a top 20 team on Torvik, and top 15 in defense. They already have a trio of Q1 wins (Ohio St, VTech, at Oklahoma St). Their strengths are 2pt defense and preventing trips to the free throw line. They also block a lot of shots and rebound well on the defensive glass. Weaknesses are taking care of the ball and free throw shooting. Given that, this seems like a great opportunity to play very aggressive on defense. And on offense we should take our chances from beyond the arc.

X has three players with assist rates above 23 (Jones, Feeemantle, Scruggs), but they also turn the ball over a fair amount. 5th year senior Nate Johnson doesn't create much, but he takes more than 6 threes per game and hits 49% of them. Their guards are big, with only one rotation player shorter than 6'4".

Vegas says +7.5, Torvik predicts X by a score of 69-62.

If we are going to have a chance we need to do two things well that we've done poorly for most of the season. One of those is shoot it from three, the other is rebound the ball. Xavier is a good rebounding team, we have been bad in quite a few games especially at defensive rebounding.

On defense we can pack the paint, play tight on ball defense and try to force Xavier to shoot it from three. Most importantly, grab the defensive rebound. For the most part they aren't a good 3-point shooting team, just don't let Johnson (and maybe Jones) shoot it. It seems like Xavier always have one unknown bench guy go off from 3 against us, hopefully this game is an exception.

We can get some extra possessions by forcing TO's and not turning it over ourselves. But it won't help us if we give them a bunch of extra possessions by not rebounding the ball.

I have high hopes, but low expectations. If I bet I'd take Xavier to cover.

Not a lot of experience on our team that has been to Cintas and the culture of the rivalry is tough to learn without a handful of guys having been there and done that.

Hell...maybe that is what we need...LOL! Ignorance is bliss sometimes. I would almost prefer a full reset of attitudes anyway. New blood new results.

I like our match up against them. Control the boards and don't freak out turning ball over. Would love see line up with McGinnis in it.

I'm feeling very pessimistic myself. I'm expecting a double-digit point loss. Just don't think we have the dogs to go shot for shot with them.

Hope I'm proven wrong.

Pessimism on this site is inversely proportional to UC’s chances of loosing.

Ody is so bad at boxing out, he cannot play in this game. Need Ado to play major minutes.

Miller in over his head? Yep. He reminds me of Butch Jones, just says a bunch of catch phrases but doesn't actually back it up.

Lol, worse than with Brannen. Roster isn't great but he could try coaching it. Not sure why Newman sees any minutes. What exactly does he provide?
