Fox Sports Ohio is making no sense. Gobearcats.com, says the game on Saturday against Utah Valley is on Fox Sports Ohio, but I skip to that day and time, and it's Columbus NHL Hockey on starting at 7 pm. Who would rather watch that hockey game than the Bearcats?? Especially since they're 7-0, and their best start in a long time. I live in Kentucky, and only 50 miles from Cincinnati, it makes no sense to me. I also have Inisight as a cable company.


If anyone can explain to me why NHL is on instead of Cincy, let me know, even if the game is on tape delay, show it on TV!!!!

also, it shows that the Columbus Hockey game will be replayed at Midnight!! It's bad enough they show Hockey instead of the Bearcats, but to have the balls to replay it 3 hours later??? Gimme a break Fox Sports Ohio.

The game is on at 8PM on Fox Sports Cincinnati (DirecTV channel 661). On Fox Sports Ohio (DirecTV channel 660) they are playing a Cavs game. Maybe your cable provider has not updated it yet but it clearly shows it on DirecTV with the hockey game being replayed at midnight.

I have been thoroughly displeased with the coverage FoxSportsOhio has provided the Bearcats as well. But to answer your question, I am almost certain the game will be on FSN-OH. What they've done multiple times already this year when faced with multiple games in the same time slot is this:

They will play the Blue Jackets game on FSN-OH HIGH DEFINITION. They will play the Bearcats game, simultaneously, on FSN-OH STANDARD DEFINITION. It sucks, no doubt. But it is what it is at this juncture. It's hard to make money off these OOC games against cupcakes and with the product having been down the past five seasons during rebuilding it only makes it even more difficult to entice someone (Ahem, I'm looking at you FOX19) to pick up the games not broadcast by ESPN.

I have Time Warner Cable and what I described is what they've done when there's been a conflict with Cavs basketball or Blue Jackets hockey.

True... like you said, FSO needs to do it the right way. There's no doubt if they did and gave UC a little more priority it would help enhance the UC footprint in the region. Hopefully after some success this year (and a return to the dance) they will put UC higher up on the totem pole for next year. Speaking of, does anyone know how long the contract with FSO is for?

I can remember me and my dad watching the games on Fox 19 and was upset when they were not buying the contract back.. I guarantee insight will not show the game they are terrible... it will be on an alternate channel and they will show the hockey game twice... I guess im going to have to bundle up and go...

Here is the big problem. ESPN has rights to our conference games and our OOC schedule sucks so bad that we don't offer much to Fox Sports. By not offering any good games who are they offering to sponsors?

If you advertise for the IPFW and Florida A&M game then we will give you a discounted rate on Utah Valley?

Instead they can package one of 80 hockey games with sponsors. This is instead of offering a game in the same market where we are pulling in 4,000 a game. These games just don't pull in viewers. Have you noticed that the commercials are the same over and over......it is because of the lack of sponsors.

Hopefully this changes for next year, but the lack of schedule strength and lack of success in the past is what is doing this. Fox Sports is our only option at this time.

That would have been a bad move IMO. That doesn't help anyone who lives outside of the Cincinnati area. Although they could live with it I guess, since a lot of UC's games are on ESPN/2/3

As I addressed in an earlier post, there is no doubt in the long run moving to FSO or ANY type of Regional broadcast platform is a good thing for the program.

HOWEVER, many long for the days of the Fox19 broadcasts right now because of the higher quality among other things. As is the case with many things in the program right now, win and much of these problems will be gone, imo. Yes, there's only so much you can do about when ESPN wants to schedule- wins or no wins. But locally and regionally getting back to the dance and putting a better product out there will mean higher interest again and the priority to broadcast these games will go up.

I do understand all the sponsors and all that, I never really paid attention to it. But, come Saturday, Hockey will be on the regular channel, the alternate, and also on HD. Can't spare one channel for the Cats?? Does anybody even watch Hockey anymore? I don't believe it ever even makes sportscenter anymore. I do remember watching the games on Fox19 when I was younger, how long has it been since fox 19 stopped showing em?? And, a couple more games, and the rest are on tv, or ESPN3, which I can hook my laptop to the tv and watch. Thanks for everyones input.

Yup they screwed us all. 661 on DirecTV has hockey as well even though the guide says the UC game should be on. I am writing an email right now. I'll post the email address in a bit.

it doesnt really matter what channel the game is on because fox sports keeps cutting away to commercials while the game is going on. if i were UC, i would be making a stink about the tv coverage

That's interesting, I've got Time Warner and even though I went to the game I taped the broadcast... just watched it back and it was completely fine, no issues whatsoever... for once Time Warner comes out ahead?!!!

I was watching on DirecTV and there were no issues other than the picture looking like crap thanks to no HD.
