I'm not sure you could have been more excited to post that.

It’s pretty ironic.

I can’t imagine how awful the posts would be if mick hadn’t left on his own!

That said - of course we all want some good news for Bearcat basketball, and it is tough to have patience. Looking for the good news to start flowing soon...actually...due to the really late start as the bridesmaid waited for the groom to finally land on her, we may not get a lot of good news till 2020 class. So good news for me would be 1) Cumberland returns 2) LoJo stays.

I wanted to get that kid. Because what I care about most is making jarron Cumberland’s & Tre Scott’s senior season a special one.

But so far we’ve used two official visits. 1. Committed to wku and the other to k-state

We’re not losing guys to duke.

True. But remind me again how long our coach has had to develop relationships at UC and if relationships are important again?

I think the kid had a chance to have a nice career sat UC, but wish him the best.

I am not surprised at all that recruits aren’t committing or abandoning the program. Brannen isn’t well known nationally (if at all). He is going to need two-three years just to prove he has an effective system to sell recruits. He doesn’t have a full staff so players don’t even know who their coaches are going to be....says a lot about the current rosters commitment to the PROGRAM.

The only thing that I really know about Brannen is the local media loves him. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean anything.

Every other new coach has been on a national podcast already.

From mick to frickin Steve Alford.

But not John Brannen yet

I believe he has more urgent matters to address - hiring a staff, recruiting players (current and future) - than being on some podcast that likely won't impact recruits anyway. The man has been the head coach for three weeks. I know he's not Cronin, who you obviously loved as UC's coach, but let's see how things progress before dismissing Brannen.

You don’t get it.

Recruiting is marketing
Getting on a free podcast to sell your brand of basketball to a national audience is free marketing.

Literally no one knows John Brannen.

He’s been a head coach for just 4 years and had never moved the needle nationally. No one knows who he is and what he is all about. Jumping on with Jon rothstein is a free chance to let people know you.

And let’s be real. UC fans barely know him. He gave the same exact introductory press conference speech to NKU that he gave to us. And he did 2 days of press run. He can spare 20 min to talk to a national source

This is something I had wondered about. I fully expected to see more visible activity...podcasts, tweets, emails to UCATs. That said I have no idea what his days are looking like though.

No one knows any coach from a lower level. I’ve heard Nate oaks name but I couldn’t tell you what he looks like.

Someone may have posted this and I missed it but has JB retained any of the old UC staff? Or is it just him and McIntyre right now?

David Sloan picked K-State apparently. Rough few weeks for us

A swing and a miss. Move on to option B.

The one thing I remember about recruiting for Cronin...some fans would get all foamed at the mouth sometimes about all the great recruits we "were in on" for the following year prompting some to say.. let's hold some schollies for that bad ass class we have coming next year.

The bad ass class never happened but we went down the list and tried to get option B when option A didn't commit. It's not a big deal...it happens to almost every coach out there. Cronin often went to plan B and even plan C or D.

We will be fine...let it play out. If we are not fine then we will have a new coaching search in a few years.

At this point some fans are going to drive themselves nuts evaluating every single aspect and event that happens. Even the good events. The fact of the matter is we won't know jack about any recruit until they lace em up and we won't know jack about Brannen until we see him work with the players and game situations in the AAC.

It's a long way until we get to see any product on the floor.
