Give Mick his due

If you go back to the first 3 or so games of the season. those were my concerns. I said good teams are going to stop this style of play. I was attacked for being a "Mick hater". Go back and look at my posts. I was right. The scheme was pitiful.

Thats where we agree.

I would also say, the player attitudes have changed because of 3 things.

1) The fight
2) Isnt it a little more exciting to play in an up tempo style offense, instead of relying on good defense and a stagnent O?
3) Mick has takin the choke off and let these guys open up? They arent playing as tight

You left out desperation....

Go Mick Cronin, keep up the positive work! Just saw the coaches poll, we are not recieving any votes but yet Pitt is still getting votes. Love it. Go 2-0 this week and we can be a very dangerous team in 2012!

Coaches have no business voting. They don't get to see enough games and most allow assistants to vote for them.

Good call! We are getting votes in the AP, 6 I believe. Its all irrelvant but I am excited for this week. I think we start to see some solid crowds as well. ND usually always brings a good crowd and assuming we take care of business Wednesday, Saturday's game could bring in a great crowd.

I have never said those things nor am I saying that now. What is obvious is it's the energy level and the player leadership that has changed this team. Cronin has said the same thing. My point is simple. A month ago they would have lost the Oklahoma game. There has been a mental change for these players. My ONLY point is if the team had played with the same attitude all season long this team would have been in a better position regardless of scheme. That said, I agree 100% that this scheme better fits the personnel.

Obviously their energy level and attitude has helped change the team but the reason for the increased energy level is the new offense. Players are playing more freely and the offense is 10x better. They are having a lot more fun because of this new offense. Frankly the offense sucked before and I mentioned that it negatively affected the development of players. This new offense is better for their development. The fact is Cronin should have implemented a new/better offense sooner and the suspensions led to the change; however, the change has been made for the better and that's all you can ask for at this point.

You are being silly. When you have a weapon like yancy gates on the team, you feed him the ball. The problems early on was not micks offense. It was a combination of.missing open threes, not being aggressive, gates holding onto ball too much, and everyone standing on the perimeter. On top of that they played with little emotion.

Yes, I'm being silly......so I assume you are suggesting going back to the old offense now that Yancy is back, right? Otherwise you are suggesting that the current offense is better.

I'm a fan of Mick, personally. Still up in the air on if he can become an elite coach...but I swear he has friends/family post on forums just trying to prop him up. Ralph and BearcatMick being a couple of them.

I will be interested to see how Yancy does in this new offense. I actually think he will be better in this offense and it may even give him an opportunity to really show his skills. I read a couple articles that were basically saying Mick has to choose between playing Yancy or keeping the same offense. Uh, what? There is no reason to think Yancy can't be successful and a big help in this offense.

Mick is one of the best coaches in college bball if not the best. When you combine his recruiting, preparation, in game adjustments, and strategy, he is right up there with coach k, calipari, pitino, boeheim, calhoun, crean, and yes huggins.

Mick Cronin is right up there with Coach K, Pitino, Boeheim, Calhoun, and Huggins? He may be the best coach in all of college basketball? Yeah, that seems like an objective take.

Yeah. I like Mick Cronin and I am really glad he is our coach, but to compare him with guys who have won National Championships is a bit premature, no? It is comments like those by Ralph or Bearcat Mick that force people to feel like they have to pick sides instead of just enjoying what is going on.

I could be totally wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bearcat Mick is Ralph. I haven't been on here in awhile, but I just noticed that Ralph was banned. And this guy just happens to create an account in December, and posts over 100 times in a month??? Plus, Ralph did the same thing when he was banned at BCN.

Either way, yeah we're on the same page. There is no way someone states that Mick's name belongs with those others without being guilty of trolling.

You are completely wrong. I can assure you that I am not ralph or trolling. Your ad hominem attacks prove how desperate and unfounded your argument really is.

Nice try

I have my doubts about BM too....

He just hasn't posted here lately because we are on a nice winning streak. This person is nothing but a trolling hater who will start typing once/if uc loses again.

You couldn't be more wrong.

When ucbearcats and ready were complaining about presbyterian, I said this team would be fine

When ucbearcats and ready were complaining about marshall, I told them to relax.

When ucbearcats and ready flipped out over x, I told them to trust in mick.

I have been the optimist here.

Good call, except for the fact I've only posted on here 3 times since April, and none had anything to do with bashing Mick. You would think a "trolling hater" such as myself would have been typing away after the earlier losses, but nope, didn't happen. It turns out, like I said, that I really just haven't been on here much lately, regardless if we're on a winning streak, or we've dropped a game to Presbistyrian or Marshall. It really is that simple. If I am who you say I am, where were all the posts 6 games ago? Why didn't I have a field day earlier in the year?

Thanks for the kind words though. I'm glad I've earned such a stellar reputation around here.

If you're not trolling then you're a "special" kind of guy to include Mick's name with Coach K, Pitino, Boeheim, Calhoun, etc. In fact, you said he may even be the best of all of them. Wow, just wow. I especially found strange when you used recruiting as one of the examples as why he belongs there. Some of the guys mentioned out recruit just about EVERYBODY. Whether you think Mick will lead us to great things or not, you cannot think his recruiting is on par with Coach K or Rick Pitino. Not yet.

The fact you know the meaning of ad hominem leads me to believe you're not stupid, so forgive me for thinking you're trolling. I just can't think of any other reason why you said what you said. Even people in Mick's family couldn't look at you with a straight face and say the guy may be the best coach in all of college basketball. He's a young guy, who's still got a lot to prove. Maybe you think he'll go down as one of the best, but he's nowhere close yet. He hasn't even made a Sweet 16, much less won a title, or two.

I agree. Yancy should make this offense better. Mbodj should make it better as well since he is an upgrade from JJ and Gaines.

Given the circumstances and what the team has been through this year, Mick is one of the best if not tthe best coach this year. That is indisputable. Hes done more with less than just about everyone
