BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

By that logic, UC also is not the dominating team they were in the late '50s/early '60s, nor the team that went to the Final Four in '92, nor even the Huggins teams that were consistently Top 15. Since we aren't as good as those teams, sure, going to the games is "throwing your money away." Sheesh, talk about fairweather.

Seriously? The reason I'm blasting the Bengals isn't because they haven't gone to a Super Bowl in 20+ years, it's because they haven't even won a play off game. 2000-2012 the Bearcats have won 9 of them. They didn't even make the NCAA tourny 2006-2010. I mean, is it really that hard to admit the Bengals are horrid? Can't you see what's happening here? Mike Brown is taking your money to the bank, putting no pressure on the team to win and he even has a deal signed by your city, that forcefully takes your tax dollars for stadium upgrades.
It's like if someone crapped on your head and you said "Thank you for the free hat!"

I don't want to ruin anyone's good time but I really don't get how it's fair weather to say what I've said. If anything, it's a sign of sanity. If you like them, they're all yours. Feel free. I feel horrible people spend their money on such things.

How about 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 blocks from the 5 position??? 12 blocks???

Mooj is averaging 4 blocks per game since exhibition WTF??

Does anyone realize what Kmart averaged??

78 blocks is 5th on the all time chart at UC (Kmart). Even if Mooj keeps on blocking 3 shots instead of 4 per game he will end up with 90. Hicks is the all time leader with 117 in a season. I know we are talking easy teams but I am very happy wiht the D right now from the 5. 12 blocks from the 5?? Come on.
I'm happy with the play of our two centers. Mbodj is much, much improved. Going to give teams fits.

But why risk your best player when we are blowing teams out?? I would expect the opposite...SK gets about 15-20 minutes. UNLESS you are trying to keep his stats high.

Stats help but I think scouts pay closer attention than that. If SK's trying to showcase, he'll be driving to the bucket more and showing he's rugged not just a spot up shooter. I don't know if that's what Cronin is doing, but if we can free up a scholarship and land Lawrence next year, here's to hoping!

If you enjoy watching the post-Paul Brown Bengals or worse, pay to watch them, you're in no position to call anything dumb.
They're not the team that went to two super bowls, any more than the current cleveland franchise represents the old Browns.
The real Browns are in Baltimore and the old Bengals are retired.
It's a lousy franchise out there, I feel no guilt in saying that. The only people who should feel guilty, are those continually ripped off. If you enjoy throwing your money away, fine. It's still stupid.

We are all in a position to call your posts dumb. And you just keep adding to them. First of all, I never even said I watch them. Frankly I don't have four hours on a weekend to watch them. But I don't have anything against people that do watch them. I know lots of people that watch them because 1) they're from Cincinnati, 2) they've rooted for the Bengals their entire lives, and 3) they love the NFL. I don't blame those people one bit for choosing to watch the Bengals.

Did you also rip on those that supported the Bearcats even when Nancy Zimpher was running the school? Were you one of those pathetic losers?

Not sure why you care so much about what other people do with their money or how they spend their time. Maybe they have more money and time than you and can afford to waste it if they so choose.

No, they aren't. Nothing I've posted cannot be defended. There is no defense for being a Bengals fan. You're a masochist and need help. Being a fan of a lousy franchise that's leeches off your money and screws over the city who's name they represent, is entirely irrational and devoid of thought. That's not a judgement on my part, it's an observation.

I'd keep going back and forth with you, but there's just no point. They aren't good, haven't been good and there is no reason to believe that will change in the foreseeable future.
I'm sorry, but when you've thrown your money down a hole for two decades, it's shame on YOU. Not me, YOU. All I did was say what most of them feel but won't admit. A few took offense but I really don't care. I see it as a positive to speak such thoughts, if you don't, ignore me. I won't cry over it

The NFL is far and away America's sport. The Bengals make Cincinnati one of only 32 cities that have a team. A fan roots for his team win, lose, or draw, no matter what. The city and the surrounding area are most fortunate to have the Bengals. Every time the Bengals are on TV it is the highest rated TV program in the Cincinnati TV market for the week, it has been that way for years.

Did you even read my post of which you quoted? It's a shame on ME that I've thrown my money down the hole for two decades? I've never had season tickets in my life. I already pointed out, which you quoted, that I don't even have time to watch the game....

It's scary to know there are idiots like you in this world.

I did. Do you realize "you" may not specifically be in reference to you(TheLongHaul)?
The "you" being used in that sentence refers to those who are supporting it.
In fact, the following sentence even says "them".
Perhaps you're also sick in another sense? Not terribly hard to follow the context of what I had posted. You found a way to go off track though, you found a way.

Back at ya. ;)
Although, for someone who doesn't follow them, it seems curious that you'd continue to post on such a trivial thing. You think I'm being childish? This is the internet, everything about it is childish. No. I think something else lurks. You must know someone who's a fan. You have my sympathies.

They're also 1 of only a handful of teams to never win a superbowl.
They haven't won a playoff game in two decades. They're irrelevant.
You don't like loser family, loser friends, loser co-workers, why root for a loser team? Personal connections are strong but this relationship should be beneficial both ways. I don't expect them to always contend but they should at least be occasionally good. They can't even do that.
Let's be honest, they're not going to support UC, most of them aren't alumni.
So why does this have any effect on UC attendence? The simple answer? It doesn't. We played a dookie team today. We had few people because of it. We're not Indiana, our history is deep but not quite as good as theirs.

Meh. I disagree.

Look at all the non-sellouts the past few seasons.

If you really analyze it closely, the Bengals will have a good season, maybe make the playoffs, which leads to a harder schedule the next season. That next season, they typically tank and suck overall. Then the following season, they get an easy schedule because they sucked the year before, so then they "surprise" everyone. It's the same cycle over and over.

People who pay attention realize this stuff. Mike Brown is always going to have the mentality that his team is "good enough" instead of putting together a "great" team. He doesn't know how.

I'm one of those people who have caught onto it.

Fairweather fan? Heck yeah I am. I have a busy life and I'm not going to invest it in a team that has a lousy gameplan from their ownership and management. I feel bad for the players because I like Dalton, Green, and Sanu, and others..........but they'll be gone in a few years after being "Bengalized".

Then there are the Reds. Castellini has shown he wants to win it all. Continuity with the players. A solid farm system. 2 playoff appearances in the last 3 years and certainly another next season. I can invest in a team that's ownership has clearly shown they want to be "great", unlike the Bengals and Mike Brown that are content to be "good enough".

Considering YOU quoted me, was specifically commenting to ME, and capitalized YOU on multiple occasions, YOU made it pretty obvious that YOU were talking to ME and hence did not read my post at all. Either that or your brain couldn't quite transcribe was you were attempting to read. That wouldn't surprise me either.

I know plenty of people that are Bengals fans. Does not bother me one bit....But at least you admit to being childish, as if you really had to admit that. Your posts scream that you can't wait to get your own apartment.

Considering YOU quoted me,

I quoted you and I used "them". Do you typically think of yourself as multiple entities? Suppose I had quoted you and started on a rant about pandas? Are you then insinuating that I believe you're a panda?
Quit getting hung up on it. You're whiney and you don't like it when I say unpleasant things, I get it. That doesn't make me or anyone else childish or stupid. It just makes you emotional. Funny how engaged you are, in replying without substance, to my "childish", "idiotic" posts. It's as though you are lacking in maturity and intellect.

I digress, you continue on your path of self-important delusion, it's obvious you've become adept at living said delusion. While you're walking in it, maybe you can pick up a Bengals T-shirt. Maybe someone can throw you a Boomer Bobble head and it will dawn on you just how bad they are :D

edit: never mind. you definitely aren't worth it. I just realized you were the one that has already been banned for making our fan base look bad in the Obekpa thread. No point arguing with someone like you.

I'd think someone who can't distinguish between "you" as a general term and "you" as in the person I am talking to, would shine a far more negative light on an institution of higher learning; than my using a perojative generalization to describe drunken rednecks, who spend their time mourning an organization that hasn't been relevant to their peers in 20 sum odd years.
Then again, obviously some people are stupid, so no shock on my end.
As for my comments about east coast cities, feel free to prove me wrong.

;D
