Some hope from upsets in other conference tourneys today. Oregon St lost at Colorado by 29 in the regular season before beating them in the Pac12 championship. Georgetown lost to Creighton by 15 in the regular season and then destroyed them in the Big East final. Ohio lost to Buffalo by 20 in the regular season and then destroyed them in the MAC final. Georgia Tech lost at Florida St by 13 in the regular season and then beat them in the ACC final.

And of course in 2019 we lost to Houston at home by 16 before beating them in the AAC final.

I’m just curious of the game plan. If Keith doesn’t play, we have 6-7 guys. Vogt and dou being two of them. So we can’t be too aggressive because of foul trouble but if we aren’t aggressive, they will kill us. They will also have the 3-4 best players on the floor. If we win, I think it will be the best win for uc in the last 20+ years.

Being serious... we don’t need to be better than them. We just need to be better for 40 min.

I want them Once again go home without any hardware.

Hoping Keith just had the poop cramps or a migraine. And is ready to go

Keith had 6 points and 0 assists in the first game. I want him available to play but it may not be as big of an issue as we might think if he can’t go. Obviously depth is an issue but with DD return I don’t know how much better timing a return from opt out can get.

We lost by 36

Saying he had 6 points and 0 zero assists says more why we were crushed not that we don’t need Keith lol

I'm much more encouraged about our chances if Keith plays. Regardless of how his shot goes down, against a team of athletes like Houston, we need the intangibles he offers especially on the defensive end and the boards.

So many things have gone wrong this year with the opt outs etc. but without most of that we would not have seen the impact young players can have. It’s quite likely that Mason would have been no more than a spot sub this year or next. Saunders would likely be securely behind DD for this year and next and if DD plays more...who knows.

As it stands now they have solidified solid rotation minutes no matter who we recruit or who comes back. Overall it could be a big blessing for us and coach.

No question. By coach accounts he has been a great teammate. Obviously he is still our best player. But in the game yesterday I saw him with the ball at the top of the key after a tough stretch asking the young players to calm down or slow it down. We will need that type of presence today

Money game. Stars go have to be stars. Need Vogt and Eason to dominate inside. Mikey has keep shooting, we play 4v5 with him on offense

Houston is not invincible. They've lost @ECU and @Tulsa, two places we've won, and also lost @Wichita. They needed a miracle shot to beat Memphis on Senior Day and some lucky breaks down the stretch to win yesterday.

In the games they've lost, some trends have been:

-Poor 3 pt shooting; they've shot an average of 28% from deep during those losses (their season average is just below 36%)

-Below average FT shooting; they shot 66% from the FT stripe in losses but have been a 74% FT shooting team on the season.

-Low rebounding margin; they were a combined +5 on the boards over those 3 losses (their currently 8th in the country in rebounding margin).
