Read the article below on Foxsports and found it very interesting. First of all, because I totally agree with the premise that hype doesn't guarantee success. People get far too caught up in the recruiting hype machine and stars and numbers by a high school players name. Stars and numbers don't now, never have and never will, guarantee a player will be a star in college.
There are so many things that elevate ratings. A hot streak at the right time. Playing on a team full of talent. And the word we love and fear, perceived potential.
Most importantly a star and a number doesn't measure what matters most. Heart and character, and it's these two attributes that ultimately determine a what kind of player you will be. Of course having a good talent base to start from doesn't hurt.
