Help Support BearcatTalk:

The NIT is a tournament, if not in the NCAA then UC will be in the NIT. Therefore, UC is a tournament team.

Hey Ralph, open your old mouth and suck deez nuts. The only tournament worth anything is the NCAA which the bearcats will not be playing this year. So take your smart ass comments else where.

Good point, in fact- almost every team is a tournament team. (Conf. tournaments)

That is why every team but Ivy League teams are in the NCAA Tournament every year. Conference tournaments are an extension of the NCAA tournament. If you start winning the first game of your conference tournament and do not lose again you are NCAA Tournament Champions. UConn did it last year.

I know a lot of ppl hate Jerry Palm but his point about UC in his bubble watch is true and what has had me worried since the Preb and Marshall losses.

"Cinci has an RPI in the 90s despite wins at Georgetown and Connecticut, plus a home win over Notre Dame. That's because their non-conference strength of schedule is among the 20 worst in D-I. That marks a team DOA in the committee room unless it does a LOT to make up for it. Still a ways to go for the Bearcats."

RPI and OOC schedule will be the death of this team chances of playing for a title. Their chance at doing "a lot" took a huge hit this afternoon.

Well, not every team as some conferences don't have the bottom teams in the tournament. However, I agree- this is exactly why I was against 96 team format. No point, considering every team has a shot a week or two before to make the tournament.

We got our asses handed to us for sure...but the game could have been a lot different if the refs call an obvious foul on Crowder to start the 2nd half. Parker drove to the rim, pump faked, absorbed contact, and finished.

Overall officiating was fine the majority of the game, and in NO WAY am I saying that's why we lost. But this would have been a pretty different game if Crowder was in foul trouble. He absolutely killed us today. He got pretty much every loose ball possible and scored at will.

I have no idea what we were doing with our press break....absolute head-scratcher.

We are fine, just can't afford an L to Providence, Seton Hall, USF, or Nova.

UC will make the tournament if they remain on track. Palm is a UC hater, remember he said it would take 12 Big East wins to even get in last year? They won 11 and were a 6 seed. He is an idiot.

I just want to take this moment to thank Mick Cronin for the crappy non-conference schedule. Good job Mick. See you in the NIT.

The RPI is seriously flawed. The commitee doesn't use it as a end all be all like the media and fans do. I think they use it more in terms of seeding than in selecting a field. With that said our RPI will work against us. The problem is the RPI assumes because you play weaker competition that you are a weaker team. We lost to Presbyterian, in terms of non-conference SOS that is not a bad loss because their non-conference SOS is way higher than ours. If anyone believes this logic they are an idiot, yet non-conference SOS is what is hurting us. Any game you've watched this year all we hear commentators talk about is pre-brawl Cats and post-brawl Cats. Our resume will be based more on how we've played post-brawl. At the end of the season our resume will look much better than some other teams in the 40's and 50's RPI. We still need to take care of business and get to at least 11 wins in season. At least one conference tourney win will add to our strength. Playing Big East competition night in and night out is still impressive if you can come out in the higher side of the rankings.

According to Lunardi:
Last 4 in- Cincinnati, Seton Hall, NC State, Miami (FL)
First 4 out- Xavier, Washington, Northwestern, Belmont

MY 2 cents on tourney chances.

Right now, most think we're a 50/50 team if this was selection sunday. If we win the games we're "supposed" to win and lose to Marq/UL that is unlikely to change regardless of teams moving up and down around us.

If we do get a win against either Marq or UL at home, we may still give that game back in any of the other 4 games, especially on the road. That would put us right back in the same spot.

In either of these cases, we go to MSG squarely on the bubble and needing a little bump to the profile. I can think of nothing more exciting for this team that a solid BET run that drives us off the bubble and into the field.

I think the odds of us sweating this out all the way through the BET and selection sunday are pretty good. Much more likely at this moment than either a total collapse or a 6-0 close to the reg season.

Agree. UC is 50/50 NCAA or NIT at the present moment. Probably need a 5-1 finish to get off the bubble. South Florida at South Florida will be an extremely difficult win to get.
