Agree with everything, especially the first part.

I'm going to assume you watched on TV and was not at the game. I was at the game. Doesn't matter if Brady was our QB today, I'm telling you Michigan hit Moore on just about every throw. He was getting mauled today in the pocket. This Defensive front was absolutely overpowering our O-Line. What I witnessed today was a Defense that was absolutely dominating up front and it blew up our passing game. Why anybody would put this on the QB is beyond me.

I for one don't think he is. I think we have a QB-less team. I want Fickell to get someone in here fast that can make basic throws.

Funny thing is I thing Moore is a better QB than Speight. Just different circumstances. Speight is terrible.

I don't get how watching the game in person somehow gave you a better view of what was happening compared to on tv? Moore missed numerous wide open people, stares down one receiver, continually throws the ball way too high, threw 2 pick 6s, and doesn't know how to snap the ball on time. Those are the same things (minus the pick 6s) that I saw from the first game. Unless you were at that game too and think the AP defense was amazing too in person.
Tom Brady or any accurate quarterback could have carved that defense apart. So many plays were left on the field and that wasn't just because of Moore. But good quarterbacks put the ball in a place where their receivers can make a play, Moore doesn't do that.
Our defense played just as good if not better then theirs. With the way they played today that was definitely a winnable game.

I certainly don't think Moore is better but I agree Speights is definitely not close to a top QB.

Do you think our coaches are so horrible that they can't tell which QB gives us the best chance, even though they see them play every single day?

We had a way better showing than most of us could have hoped for. We were down by 3 pretty much through 3Q. I don't get why everyone is so hung up on the QB as if we would've won or something had the backup played. Makes zero sense to me.

We are rebuilding. We don't look like a 10 win team bc we aren't one. It's pretty simple. Those of you expecting NFL-level QB play need to realize where we are as a program right now.

Moore missed a few throws. Every QB does. My point being is that he was under enormous pressure all day. Took on my account 20 plus hits. You talk about staring down a receiver.. What exactly is he supposed to do when you can't progress to your second receiver? It's a 1 read day. Agreed on the Defense. Disagree with your assertions on Moore. I don't have a care who they play at QB but like I said previously because of the constant harassment from Michigans front it didn't matter who was QB today. Receivers also missed/dropped 8 balls yesterday. Our line was massively inferior, and that is where the onus should be on.

I think the coaches know who the best QB on the current roster is. I just don't think any are very good. As I said, I look forward to Fickell recruiting above these guys.

My interpretation of the QB battle during camp was that Trail and Moore were even, maybe even Trail leading. Then Trail gets hurt and it forced Moore into the starting role. That's my basis and thinking of maybe the coaches like Trail better but the injury obviously prevents him from starting.

So Hayden Moore isn't the answer at QB, Ross Trail most likely isn't either. The offensive cupboard is about as bare as it's been in a long time with this Cats team, let's hope Fickell is getting the right kids to improve the talent at the skill positions over the next couple of seasons.

What I saw on Saturday was a defense that played the best I've seen since the late Dantonio/early BK days. Despite a severe difference in talent levels the defense stood up and played great against Michigan at the Big House. I saw corners actually turning to face balls in the air, LB's who were consistently in position and a line that played hard despite facing an O-Line that was twice their size. A lot of what I expected with Fickell, he's got these kids coached up on the right techniques, which as the talent improves should create a formidable defense for the Cats.

I think if you project it out a few years you're going to be looking at a Cats team with the best defense in the AAC and an offense that plays within itself and focuses on limiting turnovers.

I agree with you

I think the QB recruit coming in, Ben Bryant, may challenge for starting time next year.

His offer list is extremely impressive and he was committed to Wisconsin at one point.

I would go so far as to say he is the odds-on favorite to be the starter next year. That said, if he isn't ready or if our offensive line is still a mess, I would prefer not to throw him to the wolves and explore the option of using a redshirt.
