Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

I love UC, and i remember how shitty of a time it was when huggs left. Most people feel fine to go through that again just because they don't like a coach, which is so petty to me. I never once said we deserve to be irrelevant, but you guys with the attitude of "Kansas status or bust" are going to be in for a lifetime of misery. It's been 1 final 4 in the last 50 years yet you believe we have the right to act like snobs. It doesn't add up

Completely agree. I am not ready to be in rebuild mode next year, especially to have a coach that's not will have no ties to Cincinnati.

Kansas of the AAC!

The University of Nevada Board of Regents is considering approving a contract for potential new UNLV basketball coach Mick Cronin that would pay more than $2 million a year, according to sources close to the situation.

It would more than double what the Rebels have ever paid a coach. Former UNLV coach Lon Kruger, who was with the Rebels from 2004 to 2011, made as much as just more than $1 million a year.

Whether the regents approve such a deal remains to be seen and, of course, Cronin would have to agree to the terms. Including incentives, he makes as much as $2.2 million annually at Cincinnati. Cronin also has to weigh if he’s willing to move from his native city and his alma mater, so even if the regents approve the money, it doesn’t necessarily mean he will make the move.

If Cronin turns down UNLV or the regents don’t approve those kinds of dollars, the Rebels will have to turn to their next choices. Former UCLA and St. John’s coach Steve Lavin and current New Mexico State coach Marvin Menzies appear to be the front-runners after Cronin.

Todd Simon, who served as the Rebels’ interim coach after Dave Rice was fired Jan. 10, has been in talks with Southern Utah to become its coach and could soon be heading there.

If we have to go through it again, it is Cronin's choice. Not on anyone else.

If your wife locked you out of the house and made you sleep on the lawn while telling you about all the men she'd rather have then you, would you leave if the opportunity presented itself or stay where you're not wanted?

Just a friendly post from a huge - 30 year - UNLV fan. But my daughter lives in Lebanon.

I don't think he'll come here. I think he's an Ohio guy looking for recognition. In the end he'll stay in Ohio.

But, if he comes here and can produce the same record here that he has for the Bearcats he will be a God in this town. Never pay for a meal, never wait for a tee time, front of every line - anywhere for anything.

I, personally, can't understand the fans on the board who are dissatisfied with him. Six consecutive trips to the dance is incredibly hard. That means no truly down years, steady point guard play over probably three guards, solid defense year after year. etc. Add to that no scandals. Kids actually graduate. What is not to love with this guy?

Well, no matter what happens I hope you guys have success - unless you're playing us.

Haha is that what happened to Cronin?

God dammit, do you not realize common sense has no place here?

I honestly can't believe Mick beat the University to the punch if he leaves. Administration caught with their pants down?

I think it's funny anyone that believes any coach that says he/she is at their "dream job".... Hahahahahahahaha, Cronin becomes the biggest liar in all of sports once he wake out this door on his own.

If they get caught with their pants down again like they did with realignment I would be absolutely stunned at the incompetence

Wow, you guys must really be desperate to lose in the first round. Wasn't this the reason lon was ran out? Now a coach will get god like status?
