BREAKING: #UC is expected to name former Colorado AD Mike Bohn as new AD, per sources. Possibly as soon as Thursday. #Bearcats

The enquirer has an article about it. Says he has worked for UL's AD. He has been at Colorado since 2005. He has also worked at San Diego St...seems like a good hire to me initially.

I'm hearing the football and basketball teams didn't do too well while he was there, but he did a lot to improve their athletics. Moved them into the Pac-10 and improved a lot of their facilities. Personality wise, he sounds like a Santa Ono clone. Will talk to anyone at any time. His first move at Colorado was to remove his wood door that lead to his office and put in a glass door, so everyone could see in and would feel like they can come in and talk to him. I'm pretty happy about it, from what I've seen so far.

I don't think that football/basketball success has much to do with him except for the hiring of coaches and after that the success isn't as much in his hands as people think. But other than those two things I believe this could be a very good hire.

Got them in a new conference and raised fundraising ...Ill take it. There aren't many home run ad hires.

Sounds like he's the kind of guy we need. I'm not too worried about hiring... Cronin isn't going anywhere and I don't think Tuberville is either.

With football construction in place and taken care of, it is time for this new AD to focus on the basketball program. He needs to work hand in hand with Mick. It's time to start listening to Cronin and making sure he stays at UC for a long long long time.

It does seem like Bohn is part of the "old boys" club of the power brokers in college athletics. He also had experience getting Colorado in to the PAC12, although I believe they had an open invite to the league since the early 90's. That aspect reminds me of Goin who was ousted at Florida State for the ethical issues after getting them into the ACC, and then he came to Cincinnati and got us into the Big East. I also like the fact that he had significant impact in improving facilities and the basketball program at Colorado. Those are two things that are essential at UC too. I'll be watching at 5 pm, hope he inspires me!

I trust the powers that be at UC to make the right call. I think that now more than ever the University is seeing the value of it's athletic programs and understands the importance of athletic success and the value it can bring to the rest of the institution.

One thing that Whit was brought in for, and one thing he did very well, was fundraising. Hopefully this new AD has a similar track record of success and can find a way to identify with the potential donors here at UC. We really need an AD that can reach out to and win over the corporate community here in Cincinnati.

As for realignment, I'm not sure there's much the AD can do. Those decisions will be made by university presidents, not AD's. We certainly need someone who can sell our value to a conference but I'd expect that anyone qualified to be an AD in major college athletics is qualified to do that.

There was a story out about how much boot licking the TCU AD had to do to the Texas AD to get into the Big 12. The AD's relationships are vital...

Said the #1 priority he has is conference realignment. Also said that was an area he discussed at length with President Ono when interviewing for the position.

I hope his second highest priority is making Cronin feel appreciated by the university in terms of budget, salary, promotional support, finding donors, etc.

In his interview with Tommy G he said that basketball is his first love as a sport. Remember he fundraised to get a new facility at Colorado. I think Mick was happy to hear that...

I'm one that is concerned that if Mick keeps putting seasons together like this he will leave if a powerhouse school comes calling. If he doesn't feel supported no matter how much he loves Cincy he will leave if the right school calls.

Mick is building something special here and Bohn needs to make sure the city knows that

Your right, we need to go on a long losing streak so that no one else wants Mick and then we can all be upset that we are not playing well

I know what your trying to say but why do we always insist on thinking of something negative when we should be enjoying the hell out of what is going on right now.

That wasn't a negative comment at all. This is a thread about the new AD, and in my opinion making Mick feel appreciated and getting him the things he wants (improving bball facilities) is right at the top of the to do list

Understand, just am always curious why people worry so much about what they really can't control.
