Mitchell out at WVU

Help Support BearcatTalk:

I am one who also likes Huggs and Cronin, You know why? because i am a UC fan and i support my team and coach.. I dont care what anyone says, Huggs is one of the all time greats. I can remember watching games and him coaching harder than the team plays and thats special. To take a look back and remember senior night every year and to see the players and him devistated and then for some people to say he is not a players coach is absurb. Bob will always be one of my all time favorites if not number 1. As for Cronin, he was dealt cards no one could win with, he has brought UC back to national(attention) and has done a wonderful job graduating players. I dont want to say BH recruited thugs but i do agree with RALPH that he definately had some questionable characters. The thing about me is i am so die hard of a UC fan that John Clipari could come in and i would like him. Moral of the story you can love both coaches, because you love everything about the team.

I'm not sure how to even reply to Ralph. The fact some think that he contributes a single thing to this site, or is ever even mildly, or occasionally amusing is a mystery to me. Ralph, get a clue. You shit on Huggs, you shit on this program. If it wasn't for him, Cincinnati wouldn't be "Cronin Crazy". Woodward would be Cronin Crazy. (maybe) You are showing absolutely zero respect to the kids that have worn this jersey, and the same

3.) I'm feeling all a whole lot safer if we can run off a 4-1 record in these next 5. If we hit that last stretch with 21 wins, there's no telling what may happen. (5-7 seed would be looking real likely to me)

I did not start this thread. The thread is Mitchell out at WVU with the story about another Huggins player in trouble. The thread topic is therefore players who got in trouble when playing for Huggins and therefore about Huggins himself. All my posts have been " on topic", therefore I am adding a lot. Yes Huggins built it up but then destroyed it so that when Mick took over there would be nothing left. There were no players and UC was facing the loss of 3 scholarships because Huggins put UC in APR jail. It was Huggins who destroyed the UC basketball program.

We aren't going down this road like some other sites. Huggins is gone and the only relevance this has to UC is the fact that WVU is a league foe we face this week. If you want to talk about how that effects match ups please continue. Otherwise I'm gonna close the thread.

I feel that he will be back in time for the UC game. Bob wants to win here and knows he needs Mitchell to do so. Teaching lessons is great for grade school and high school but they need to get into the tournament. I just think indefinite suspensions are really weak.

I feel the same way about this GR81 (all hail!) I may be wrong but I expect him back Saturday as well.

In trouble for what though? You automatically assume the kid is not a "quality person". (Your words not mine) It is for a violation for team rules, not an arrest. For all we know he may have been late to practice, missed a class, whatever. Why insinuate that young man has character issues, when you know nothing about the situation. On top of that, why bring up our own former players? You know nothing about this situation, and very little about before.

As far you being on topic, no, you're not. The thread is about Mitchell and/or WVU. But you offered to recite the kids who have been arrested under Huggins. You brought up a DUI that happened 6 years ago, here, and not WVU. Neither one of those statement is on topic with Mitchell or WVU. They're only met to rile people up, or further indication that you're a moron.

Again, Cincinnati wouldn't be Cronin Crazy if it weren't for Bob Huggins. I think Mick himself would take EXTREME offense at your statements. Not only did the man give him his start in the business, but you forget that Cronin recruited and coached a good deal of those same kids you're trashing.

Keep it on topic, and save your Huggs bashing for your X buddies. You can all talk about how cool it would be is we never got in the BE too.

Like when Mick indefinitely suspended Bishop for the BE tourney? (Our ONLY shot of making the dance) I still think that was the right move.

Suspensions serve a purpose past grade school and HS IMO. It sets a precedent for your other players, and keeps your team in check. In the long run, it probably makes guys better players and people in general. Every coach from Bobby Knight to Rick Pitino has used the suspension. I think it serves a great purpose, but to each their own.

Let me clarify my position.

I think indefinite suspensions are weak. I think suspension are completely reasonable and fair game.

If I were a coach I would have a set number of games before they could come back.

I would have suspended Bishop for the entire Big East tournament and then he would be eligiable, but not granted, for reinstatement.

If you don't put a numberon the suspension then you leaving room to back out if something goes wrong. Mitchell was indefinitely suspended before and did NOT MISS A GAME.

What does that teach the kid? Your suspended until we need you is the impression I get.

Don't believe any of the BS surrounding Mitchell/Huggins/WVU basketball.

WVU barely has enough eligible players to conduct a full practice scrimmage.

Mitchell will dress for the UC game. He may, MAY, even enter the game if WVU is getting their collective a$$es whooped by the men in black. He's been suspended indefinitely since October. Not likely to be enforced, IMHO, but I've been wrong before..

Say what you want but I'm sure as hell glad that I don't have to put up with all this crap as a fan anymore. By my count they have had four players suspended this year alone. And not one was their first time being suspended.

They also had someone walk away from the team. Things don't appear like they are going well for Huggins this year.

Apparently, the dude that walked away from the team on Saturday only averaged 2 ppg and 3 rebounds. Not a really big loss in the grand scheme of things, but in light of WVU's imminent need for players...........

It's a shame he isn't a junior because then he could promise to come back next year in exchange for playing on Saturday.

Could be ugly at the 'Ville tonight. Huggy is at his best when his back's against the wall though. Still alot of talent in those 8 remaing players. If teams allow them to slow the game down they are dangerous.

What sucks is if we beat them Saturday and he isn't playing it takes some luster away. I hope indefinite lasts a few days.

Not a big loss on gameday, I agree, but a big loss from a practice standpoint. It is really important to have 10 quality scholarship players from a practice standpoint. When he left, that took them to 9. Now with the suspension, they are at 8. It's going to be hard to scrimmage in practice with those numbers.
