So just to add some incite to this that is purely speculation. I sit behind the bench and during the X game he was being sub'd in late in the game for defense and being pulled out on O. This happened a few possessions in a row and coming out of a defensive stand and going into a time out he walked over to the bench and said no more and sat the rest of the game. My speculation is that he has the attitude of "me first" vs. "how can I help the team".

Well, I guess that would explain the suspension. Hope him and Quadri get their heads on straight

I like his skill on D, but I've said all along, he leaves his four teammates out to dry with his go for the steal at all cost attitude. He gets blown by for 5 on 4's far too often to be a Bearcat.
Not more than Clark. That's their defense first attitude. Nothing to do with "ME" attitude. Our motto on defense is deflections right? You can't get deflections without being aggressive.

The team and program has to come first. If it doesn't, hit the road Jack. You play for the name on the front of the Jersey. You're not here to "get yours". If you're good enough that will come in the flow of the game. I don't want attitude on this team. The program has come too far since the dark days of NZ. Can't go backwards and you can't let individuals matter more than the whole.

We got best players in county because their family wanted them toughened up. No parent in country sending child somewhere with 8guys on bench. Looks like dysfunctional family. Coaches pay players, players don't pay coach. NOBODY cares about team that only makes tourny and graduate all players. This is a business. In 90's EVERY kid in America know huggins and loved him for allowing players to be themselves. TC got benched for flexin muscles!?!? Top kids in our own city don't have us in their top 5. I love Mick but he needs all the swagger he can get, already bad enough he's shortest coach in basketball.

I have no earthly idea what any of this meant.....

How can anyone take you serious. The shortest coach in basketball. Really?

if don't live it you don't get it. Stay in ur lane

Haha I have no earthly idea what any of this meant either.

As far as Morman goes Im in agreement with what Mick said on his radio show tonight. The culture that has been built will be preserved no matter the cost. It's what turned the program around and it's what continues to allow us to compete at the highest level with less talent. If you think you can come in here and disrupt that you have another thing coming. Quadri and now Deshaun are learning this the hard way. Quadri appears to have responded well now we'll see about Deshaun.....

I'm glad Quadri is back. I was scared we'd lose him. I agree about the culture too. I was hard on LD before the Xavier game about his comment about needing soldiers. I do know what he means, and I don't know what is happening behind the scenes. So he may have just been frustrated with the attitude that some of the individual guys have had. Everyone wants to make the NBA now, but that's not really how it works here. It takes maturity. It's hard to see the big picture sometimes (especially during our 3 game losing streak) but I think Mick and LD have.

I Don't even know you to want you to take me serious. I teach the kids not blind adults. Mick height has come up numerous times from former coaches saying how his height make it more difficult for players to respect your teaching. You'll never see a fat personal trainer!!!

Players don't need coaches, coaches need players. You'll get fired trying play with 8players on scholarship. Alumni don't want to hear how he doesn't fit culture after half season. You spent 2-3yrs really getting to know these kids and family, now all sudden they problem child's? No player in county wants play for team when they see them on national tv with 8players. You got to do whatever you have to do as coach pleasing players. With or without Mormon and Moore team still looked lackadaisical. It was point in last game where our player and Houston player went down on court together, rest of Houston teammates ran to help him up, only kj ran to help his teammate up. As a coach that tells me team commardire is real low On team right now.

To me what this team is missing is a leader, they have no one to step up and hold other players accountable as a peer. No one has stepped into that role yet it seems. Troy and KJ need to be those guys at this point and they aren't. This attitude crap wouldn't have happened last year b/c JJ, SK and Titus wouldn't have let it happen. That kind of stuff needs to be policed from within, not from the coaches and unfortunately they coaches are at a point they have no choice but to try and police it themselves because it's not happening from within.

It's all tall man's world, for sure :( <looks down sorrowfully>

His height had no bearing in anything and is simply ridiculous to state this. His former players love him. All say he is like a father figure. Players want to win and if a coach wins that's what matters. That's more than enough on this topic.

Haha seriously...I had forgotten that this thread was supposed to be about Morman being suspended.

It all has to do with Mormon getting suspended. You usually don't kick freshman off team if their eligible. That's why coaches are highest paid state employees to mentor and guide these young man down right path. I don't like how our players are starting to drop like flys every year.

They are saying that it has nothing to do with Mick's height. These are 18 and 19 year old kids. They have school problems, girlfriend problems, family problems, basketball problems, health problems, are away from their family, and have to compete at a level they are not accustomed to doing all while the spotlight is on them. It's not hard to see that some when faced with adversity make the wrong choices. The suspensions are for the good of the program, the team, and most of all the player in question. They have to understand how to react to certain hurdles and that there is an expectation of how that are to behave.

smh, how pathetic. I said Mick needs some swagger. As a short guy myself I guess u didn't catch it what I meant. What choices are you talking about with these players? Moore was back on bench and Mormon just played game before last, so whatever they did wasnt that significant wouldn't you say? Reality of matter is as coach you do what you have to make kids happen. You sat in these kids homes multiple times and promised them you'll do whatever to make them successful. Quite frankly if you suspended 3 new comers already that's bad recruiting. Mormon and Strickland were here last year so that's even worse. not giving players pass at all but come on 5 players in past 2yrs is on coach. 40% of your recruits you've had to discipline? Plus TC was benched in game we loss to for what?

This is all just babble. You specifically said his height was a major detractor and that several coaches had said so. I would like you to provide evidence of that. What in the hell does sitting in their house have to do with how they will react to college basketball? Also they are doing what they can to make them successful. Successful people first and basketball players second. If you dont root for your teammates, show up on time, basically do the right thing then there will be consequences. A valuable lesson to learn for the real world. Did you ever make a mistake when you were younger? 5 players? JD's family's house burned down. JL dad had cancer. Jamarree is the only one who is gone for being a problem. Quad and Deshaun are not gone. You've constantly talked out of your ass on this forum and flip flop on just about every issue. Have tried to tolerate it but I'm thinking I need to figure out how to find the mute button.
