Would people be happy with 1 sweet 16 every 10 years if it meant we were somewhat relevant every year? (Top 30ish team, top 3 in league). I feel like some people would be fine with this. I kinda think it’s crazy for a top program to be ok with this.

I want much more then that. I also want kids to graduate and learn life lessons. I also want there to be a equal playing field that the NCAA says they will enforce. They also say they are a non profit organization as well. When the NCAA creates a equal playing field I’ll u my standards for what I expect from my team.

There isn’t an equal playing field in most sports but teams still find a way to succeed.

Anyone else wonder if the NCAA is going to do anything in terms of suspensions for the universities that cheated, cuz if duke, UNC, Michigan state, Arizona are not eligible next year, we may still be in a good spot

I would say we have preformed the worse of any program that has been to the tourement the majority of the time since 1996. Only having 2 sweet 16s and zero elite 8s is hard to do. I’m not saying fire the coach but people frustration is understandable

Yeah that's really bad.

This loss is actually getting worse for me over time, not better. I feel much, much worse today than I did Sunday bc the shock has work off. And now we are left having to stare the biggest 2nd half collapse in the history of the NCAA Tournament right in the face.

Gonna be a fun off-season.

It couldn’t get worse than I felt right after. But now my anger and disappointment is more focused on worrying that still nothing will change and we missed our chance to change the entire program perception around with a great bracket. Ugh. I hope mick changes...all great coaches do.

So is my thread still dumb? Lololo...

I haven't researched it but it has not been a good run just going off memory. I also understand peoples frustration.

My issue with folks at times is that they reach for reasons to degrade the coach;.

Examples

He can't recruit.
First off he is a very good recruiter. Huggins and Pitino both thought enough of his work to hire him,. As mentioned many times league Affiliation is a huge obstacle and he still wins games and competes for league titles most years

He is to tough on his players.
Says who? I have never heard a negative comment from his players in their treatment.

His sideline demeanor:
Heck Huggins was a show all by himself.

He subs to much:
says who? When a player messed up in the Huggins years he was out of the game before the horn stopped sounding. Holding players accountable he learned from Huggins

I truly understand peoples disappointment in how our season ended. it was historic and crushing. Other then The reds dropping 3 straight to the Giants and Kenyon breaking his leg I really can't think of a worse sporting event I have witnessed I truly believe to survive this and move forward we need to learn from this. As someone who remembers the Yates years I can assure you guys we do not want to relive that experience. I'll admit it is not impossible to find a new coach that can improve on what Mick has built but trust me in todays game it won't be easy. I for one am not willing to roll the dice. He is a good coach who wants to be here. I would rather go forward hoping his experience will provide him some knowledge that can help him raise his level. I am not talking forever but for now. Please don't give me the he's had 12 years. We are a very good program in todays NCAA. If we win that game we are in the round of 16 with a good chance of advancing to the final 4. We were 11 minutes away from turning a lot of heads and being much more relevant in todays game. Lets not make a decision based on emotions that may haunt us for years to come. I'm to old to wait out the effect the yates years had on our program if we are wrong.

That is my rant and respect all who disagree with it. I would never tell you how to spend your time and money. Go Cats!!!

This is a good point... seems like all that is getting brushed under for the time being.

All I know is after what happened this year, I'd be in it for myself from now on if I'm Cumberland or Broome especially. We are obviously going to be worse. So what's the point?

I don't get this. There is plenty of motivation to make a deep tourney run next year and redeem the Nevada game so to not make that game the memory you think about when they think back on their college career

If Evans leaves, and if we have a normal draw with a worse seed, it will be obvious to the players that we don't have what it takes. I remember after losing to Kentucky, someone said Caupain and Johnson thought they could win it all the next year. We ended up with a worse seed and a 1st round exit.

The writing will be on the wall. And idk how you could possibly bounce back after such a soul crushing loss.

The only thing that gives me hope is while Evans and clark were GREAT, they didn’t always play with a killers mentality. Gary did at times and I really thought they’d give him the ball and he’d hold off Nevada.

But Cumberland....that kid is special and has the mentality. There is a chance he can perform like a Kemba or Napier in tourney mode. At least I hope so. Really need a knock down shooter (as always) cause Cumberland is going to get a lot of people open looks.

If your a player and your looking for motivation I would think that the fact no one thinks you have a chance in hell of duplicating what the pervious group did should be motivation enough. If I'm Mick I am leaning on that at every opportunity. While Gary, Kylie and Jacob were huge components of the team we have other guys who I'm sure feel they are certainly capable of filling their shoes. If they don't I really have a hard time believing they are D-1 players. Their thought process is this is my time now.

I don’t think he’s a good enough shooter to be like Kemba or Napier

Whats making them go?

Well being discounted by their own fanbase should be motivation enough. My guess is UC will do better than every one expects next year.

Remember when SK graduated and everyone thought UC would be in complete rebuild the next year? We made the tourney and gave UK a hell of a fight.

Lol. That was a complete rebuild. We were not good at all that year. We lost to Kentucky by 19 and scored 43 points. That team averaged like 62 ppg. We were #43 in KenPom. We were the 4 seed in the AAC Tournament. If that's what next year is, I'll be asking for a new coach a year early. Completely unacceptable to me to have a year like that with 9 returning players (Evans would be 10). Gross. That was easily the worst Cronin team of the last 8 years. We had 0 players average 10 ppg.

It won’t be that bad we will be fine
