I don't like the match ups for UC on paper in this game. NC St. has solid guards and a good rebounder. I predict a very lopsided loss on the road.

NC St.

Lacey
Barber
Alston
Abu
Anya

That line up will be too much for our young team unless we shoot lights out from 3.

NC. St. 67
UC 52

They have a bunch of talent, but they are soft and poorly coached. Hard to beat if they are hitting tough shots, but very beatable if not...

Isn't their best player Ralston Turner?

We'll see what Larry's got this game. Tough road game. I give him a pass for VCU because if I were given 30 minute notice "by the way you are head coach now, have fun with that" they'd have to Amazon rush order me some new pants before anything else.

Who knows?

This team has really been up and down all year. I completely agree with Waterhead in another thread where he said there is no way that these shooters are this bad. The odds are pretty stacked against us in this game, but I think we're overdue for a good offensive performance and I'm hoping for a hotly contested 5 point victory.

Hope your right.

This team is over thinking and pressing the issue with shooting. I agree I don't believe they are that bad. Getting their confidence up and playing relaxed will go a long way. That is all easier said than done.

Run plays early that allows your shooters to get high percentage opportunities around rim. Not easier to baost confidence than getting layups and dunks. Need to get better outlet passes from bigs or better yet allows Ellis and Clark to start break on their own.

Shooters don't play around the rim. I don't disagree that we need more inside looks, but getting the ball inside means getting clark, Ellis deberry and Moore looks. If we abandon outside shooting altogether teams will stack the defense inside and take away any ability to get the ball inside. There has to be a balance. We need to develop an inside out game. Our shooters need to shoot off being fed the ball and not try to create their own shots, other than the occasional drive to the hoop when the defense allows it. At this point only Morman and maybe caupain can even pretend to drive to the hoop and get a shot off.

My point was more our struggles in our open looks, because we are getting open looks, is we are forcing things and alot of it is mental. Signs of a young team and signs of not having anyone used to being the go to guy. Time should fix things but the question is how much time. Our fans obviously don't want to wait.

That's why you get your shooters easy looks close to basket early for they can have confidence throughout game. You miss a couple jumpers confidence is gone. Nothing better for struggling shooter to get out slumps than layups and free throws.

If we aren't creating turnovers and getting some buckets in transition, our chances of winning are very low. We are still too easy to defend and will continue struggling to score.

For that to happen we either have to be playing a team that just simply doesn't play defense or try to go complete run and gun and hope our players are better offensively than our opponents. For teams that don't play defense we won't struggle to beat anyway, for the latter scenario we would get our butts handed to us by many teams. When you struggle to score the answer is not give both teams more possessions.

Simply put college teams don't give up layups, you can't just say get layups for all these guys. If teams would give us layups, trust me our team is smart enough to take them. I'm not trying to suggest we don't need to do a better job of running the offense and passing the ball because we do. The recruiting has been geared towards better offensive players and that trend needs to continue. When these young guys get better I think we'll struggle alot less scoring. Unfortunately that time is not today and our upperclassmen are not playing like upperclassmen should.

The passing is suspect, the offense starts too far out on the floor. There is no penetration and little effort to penetrate. Offensively they don't play as a team and they are always a split second slow making the pass that needs to be made. All symptoms of a young/inexperienced team with no leader on the floor. Guyn, Sanders and Thomas may have been good at leading the offseason, but this team has no leader on the floor right now.

I've been waiting to see a leader emerge and so far haven't. I thought TC was taking steps forward for about 3 games and he has disappeared. I think Cobb has the demeanor to be a leader but he either doesn't want to step up right now or simply feels he hasn't the time in the program to do it.

Ellis would be a good candidate. He performs and he has experience on the floor. But regardless there has to be someone step up and lead, guide, direct and encourage on the floor. I was hoping it would be TC and KJ. TC is fighting his personality and consistency and KJ simply isn't performing and it's hard to lead when you don't perform.

They are playing hard, Mick being gone really concerns me especially seeing the lack of adjustments versus VCU, and I'm no sure they can score enough to win. I do think this team is learning hard lessons and I see little things in each game with the toughness and effort but I think they still think too much and nobody wants to be the guy to step up. I think they lose this game. No production from the 2 or 3 and you simply have a very difficult time.

If someone can get hot from the wings and play consistently they have a shot to win.

Kinda glad I will be at work til 530 tmrw. I will have it recorded and if its ugly I won't have to worry about seeing it. However I would love to watch the recording knowing we got a win. It sure would help my heart lol. I think we will struggle in this match up. I'm worried about UC turning the ball over.
