NCAA Tourney DAY 2 (Cincy v Texas)

Smothering defense will win this game for the Cats. Gotta shut Brown down and limit their trips to the line

I hope the morning practices this week have helped the Cats adjust. If we come out looking sharp, I don't see us letting it get away from us

Sanders you should have 0 FGA at the end of the game. Idiot. Take a horrible 3 and Texas gets a dunk.

Then again, if you continue to use your length and athleticism to help beat the press and slip by players, and run the court. You can take GOOD shots.

Giving Texas foul shots, the refs are, to keep the game interesting. Texas can't buy a basket.

Gotta get the commercials in too.

Pretty sure what Brown just did constitutes a travel. His right foot came down, then went back in the air, changing his pivot foot -- this after two other steps.

Game started on a 16-2 run for the Bearcats (combination of good D and bad Texas O).

Half ended going 15-15 for both teams.

Half-time score 31-17. Lead could have been 20 easily.

Glad I took my BP medicine.

Some days Mick outcoaches his opposing coach. Today Barnes outcoached Mick.

Not pretty.

They are lucky Texas didn't show up the first 12 minutes of the game. We look really rundown. Hopefully the Bonnies make Florida State work in their game. I'm sure we have another early tip on Sunday. Mick needs to tell this team no more threes -- get the ball inside the arc. Especially Dixon, he's not even close on his shots. With all this negativity, I'll close by saying good job on the victory and lets take it to Florida State!

Not really sure who I would rather play at this point. Both FSU and SBU look strong and matchup well against us.

Amen on this team needing to take it inside. We found our identity after Xavier by being a wide open 3 point shooting free wheeling team. We have managed since then to beat some pretty strong teams while shooting miserable from three. Lately it has become a weakness and I hope Mick realizes that it's time to put the kibosh on the free wheeling threes. Dixon and Cash are most dangerous with the pull up J and Parker can do that and get to the rim and finish. Wide open threes should still have a green light...but other than that we need to drive and either pull up, take it to the rim, or dish.

Well St. Bonaventure looked pretty pathetic on that last attempt. If you don't get a two in the first 6-8 seconds, you have to look for a 3. Would rather play them - they can't close out!

Florida State continues their hot streak and will be rolling in with quite some momentum come Sunday.

A simple adjustment in todays game would have kept things comfortable:

We kept showing Gates at the top of the key to help on the high ball screen. Texas continued to pass out of it to the open 3, and hit. Keep Gates down low to limit the amount of rotations. Once that screen is set Gates can show, but doenst need to stand there with the other guard. Get back down low so we dont have to use the other wing defender to help out on the block
