Very true Greatone. I don't like Shipley because I don't think he will fit in well with the Bengals. Every highlight I saw of the kid was him going deep, and he just isn't fast enough to do that in the NFL. I would Have much rather have had a slot reviever, and Shipley isn't that. Maybe there weren't any slot guys left, but Shipley is garbage, and always will be garbage. I have no doubt he will see little to no time while at the Bengals.

K-Court care to elaborate on why you dislike Shiply?

I dont think he will see the field...infact, I dont think any WR bengals got would see the field. People are highly over looking Matt Jones. I think he will be a pleasent surprise to many. Ocho, Caldwell, (Guy from bucs...cant think of his name) and Jones are solid. Shipley is a product of the offense...He wont be anything for the bengals.

Are you following in K-courts footsteps?? Posting while under the influence of alcohol?

Let me get this straight. Your picking a ex QB with a drug problem to be more productive than a guy who set records at Texas playing against top talent?

I think Jones will be boom or bust. He either won't make the team, or will play a ton next year. The guy that needs to watch out if Caldwell. Shipley is a better slot receiver already than Caldwell is and he can return punts and kicks. Caldwell may see his playing time dip a lot and Simpson probably gets cut IMO.

While impressive- he did have the winningest QB in college history throwing to him. Texas throws the ball a lot- his stats are somewhat a product of the system and somewhat having the winningest QB in history thorwing to you--who, might I add, had 70% passing percentage in his college career. Hell, Great1 could have done some damage with that behind him.

McCoy is the winningest QB in NCAA history due in no small part to the playmaking ability of Jordan Shipley. Shipley bailed Colt out of tough situations game after game. Mentioning an accomplishment achieved by the team as if it's because of one player on that team is naive.

Exactly. And in addition, you can't mention Colt's completion % without talking about the WRs too. The O-line isn't catching the ball. Is Colt a very accurate QB? Of course. Did his receivers do a good job of getting open and catching the ball? You betchya.

Also, the whole system argument is bogus too. Everyone plays in a system and every player is a product of the system they play in.

I don't think it's bogus at all. How has Colt Brennan done in the NFL?

Maybe he's in the wrong system in the NFL. Every player is a system player to an extent. A perfect example is Jason Campbell. He has had something like 3 or 4 different OC and 3 or 4 different systems to play in. He may be a fine QB except that he can't mature in any one system.

It is very difficult for a player who didn't take a snap all year from under center to come into a system and start doing so. It isn't the mechanics as much as reading the defense. It is much easier to read the defense when you are facing them the entire time. Now he will be dropping back - does he have the footwork to do this? - and sometimes forced to turn his head back for a play action pass. If he can pick this up then he can be successful and if he can't then he will have trouble. ]

Brennen looked decent for the Redskins in his limited role and could have done well, but was injured and has to have surgery if he hadn't already. Brennen has a lot of the problem that Pike had and that is being too skinny and fears that he can't handle the physical nature of the game.

McCoy isn't the ideal height, but a couple of QBs have been able to excel. I don't think that he fits into Cleveland's current offense, but teams are allowed to change their offense around to fit a QB.

I agree that every player/qb is in a system some what. Just some systems seem to huge stats because of the system, rather then the players in that system. Sure the players play a significant part, but their stats would be drastically different in another system. A team that runs 50 percent of the time vs. a team that passes 75 percent of the time will produce drastically different numbers for the quarterback, even if that quarterback isn't as good as the one that is in an offense who runs more.
