Not sure we can afford too

If the options are sit him or risk losing him for an extended period of time, you have to sit him and hope you win. Can’t lose him for the year. If you lose, the committee is supposed to factor in the fact that your best player didn’t play. If it comes to that.

again it doesn't appear like this is a sit him and he'll get better. it appears thats what they tried to do in the offseason.

Jarron has to play like an all american for this team to make the tournament. he had to last year and he did it. this year is no different.

Brannen doesn't realize he cant run this offense with the guys he has right now... you can not be a run and gun offense when you have guys like McNeal shooting the ball 12 times a game. Missed threes lead to easy transition buckets on the other end which happened on 4 of McNeal's missed 3's last night. Other than Jaevin the bench has Zero ability to score. It just baffles me what he is doing with Jarron.
Im sure he realizes it. He’s been around the game his whole life. He has coached under some good coaches and seen high level basketball. This is what it looks like when you have to coach someone else’s players. You have to figure out what works. Good coaches can figure do that faster, it’s not a great so far. I’ll admit that

We have no idea. That’s part of the issue. If brannen is trying to look out for Jarron, that’s hard to argue. Things is, we have no idea how much is injuring and how much is a power thing. I would guess he wanted to play him last night. He probably didn’t want to lose that game.

Brannen said at halftime Jarron came up to him and told him the foot was flaring up and giving him troubles. Then i guess he got in a collision or something and they had to stop the game to bring him out? I didn't get to see but I heard Nelson say that.

I didn't mean it as he actually doesn't realize it ( bad choice of words on my part) I think JB is stubborn and rightfully so as most coaches are very stubborn and they use the system that got them here which is fine, but at times you need to make some tweaks and changes to accommodate your best players and I just haven't really seen that.

Honestly hard to agrue that. The McNeal thing is still less hard to argue, give Harvey some of the mcneal minutes. Anyone can dribble the ball to half and pass it to someone else.

I think he slowly is. We have seen a lot of Jarron iso the last couple games. Takes time. Of course you are going try some different things at first.

I still think they will turn it around. The question is if it will be too late. Similar to Xavier last year.
Brannen can obviously coach. You don’t win at the rate he did at nku if you can’t coach. He didn’t suddenly forget how to coach basketball.

Not sure the basketball IQ is there to run what he wants....

Players are far more willing to play through injuries for coaches they like and respect.

Jarron would run through a brick wall for mick. But Brannen hasn’t earned that for Jarron. That’s up to Brannen to sell his vision to Jarron.

Breaking News!!! Player is closer to the coach he was recruited by and played 3 years with than new coach brought in!!! What a revelation!!!

this is unfortunately pretty clear when watching. trying to mix in guys he brought in for his system with others that don't have the natural feel for a more advanced offense isn't going well.

when you look at all the offense stats, PRPG, OBPM, ORTG newcomers lead them all. the top 3 are Vogt, Sorolla, Jaevin.

Jarron and Tre are both shooting a much better % on 2 point shots, which would point to them getting better looks, but Tre's turnover rate has skyrocketed and Jarron can't hit a 3 or FT.

My concern isn't that Brannen can't coach, it's that Brannen wants to coach a certain style that isn't going to work at a high-major level.

Vogt said in a post-game interview a couple weeks ago that everything is almost exactly the same as it was at NKU. Same system, same coaching style, same practices. So far, that isn't working.

With Cronin we won with size, athleticism and intensity on defense and the boards. Brannen made it clear that athletic high-energy bigs weren't a major concern of his early on (our athletic bigs - Nsoseme, Hardnett, Diarra, Brooks - either transferred, were forced out or are on the bench).

It's hard to see how we are going to win a lot of games going forward. Vogt was a huge liability on defense in the second half and was taken out of the game offensively because BGSU could match his size. This isn't the Horizon league, in the AAC almost every team can match Vogt's size. Vogt also provides almost no shot blocking presence. Sorolla is a worse version of Vogt.

So we aren't going to win against good teams with our size and athleticism and we don't have the shooters to match up with most teams. Our PG can't shoot, can't hit FTs and (along with most of the team) commits way too many TO's. The offense isn't much (if any) better then last years offense, but the defense and TO's are worse.

It's hard to see us winning a lot of games this year. The Cumberland's can carry the load at times, but with them both having injuries I don't know how hard we can ride them. Besides those two, there are no major threats on offense. Scott seems to have regressed, Williams hasn't improved much, Vogt only has success offensively against guys he has 25+ pounds and 4-5 inches on.

If it was me I cut Vogt and McNeal's minutes, give Diarra 20+ minutes and give Moore and Davenport more minutes. MAW and Harvey can sit until they learn to defend, rebound and not turn over the ball. McNeal can be a spark plug guy off the bench - similar to Broome last year, they have similar games, though Broome was a better shooter.

It wouldn't lead to pretty wins, but it would have a better chance of winning. I like results, I don't care how you get them.

You cant cut vogt minutes for mamaoudou. That dude is lost out there. Vogt has been a bright spot.

You can cut mcneals minutes...

Best lineup is Jarron. Jaevin. Keith. Tre. Vogt.

I like Harvey (needs to develop quickly) and davenport off the bench.
