Absolutley no way that Parker does not start. he is the most important piece of the puzzle to running a 4 guard offense. His rebounding is spectacular to say the least. Rubles will be a player but no way he starts either. I think Cronin will be running 5 guys in and 5 guys out.

Starters or first 5 in..

Just imagine if there were no drop offs in terms of offensive production and defensive production. This would be a legitamate Big East championship contender.

We could all imagine, but there isn't even the slightest possibility of not having drops offs from the first five to the second five. If there isn't a drop off than the first five will be having a terrible year. My guess is Rubles, Sanders, and Guyn see good minutes but the others are just spot minutes. At least against the good competition.

Interesting tweet from Savino

KELVIN GAINES probably had his 2 best practices of his career the last 2 days.

That's why I am the most interested in a UC exhibition game as I've ever been. So many guys that I'm curious to see how much/if they progressed. I want to see Gaines, Rubles, Cheikh, Thomas, and Sanders. Those are the most interesting players in my mind. Not many teams in the country have kept as much of their nucleus like UC, but also have so many intriguing new players.

id keep my expectations in check with kelvin. good to see that tweet, but cronin even said the other night that the goal is to have kelvin be ready to be a rotation guy next year.

If he is truly progressing though that si huge. There will be a game where Nyarsuk or Mbodji get in foul trouble. Secondly, If he progresses it gives you a good player for 2 more seasons and gives you recruiting options i.e. signing Mormon. Personally, I'd like noting more than to see him EARN minutes. I love his toughness and athleticism. He can kill someone from the ft line though...lol

Gaines wont bring much this season...

Heard alot of people are very impressed with rubles. He will be the 6th off the bench.

Listened to micks interview from the other day. A few things about the lineup

1. Sanders is sixth man. Going to play some big minutes
2. Rubles hard to keep off the floor. Seems like mick glows when he talks of rubles. Mick thinks he might be most talented guy on the team. Needs to slow down but by January could be huge. I could seem him starting with Jackson's energy off the bench by January
3. Said guyn pretty much backup point guard. Very strong mentally Parker will also run some point it seems in a pinch
4. Davis moved to 2 guard. Really struggling since he is checking kills in practice
5. Shaq big time athlete. Struggles playing defense. Needs to learn how to pass and less dribble. Seems like sanders and rubles way out in front of shaq. Said shaq is so talented could be all big east by third year.
6. Nyarsuk knee sore but nothing alarming. Will back up cheik

Wants to be ten deep at all times.

I say the ten are

Cash
Killa
Parker
Jackson
Cheik

Sanders
Rubles
Guyn
Nyarsuk
Shaq

Davis
Kelvin

All the new players meshed in with the leadership that this team has will make for an interesting basketball squad. I am a huge kelvin Gaines fan and hope he gains some type of offense and understands more defensively. He is by far the most athletic big Cronin has brought in. I do see him getting minutes this year. The hype train on Cheikh will slow down, i dont believe he will be too much more than he was last year. Although better i think David would be an intimidating force to have start at the 5. Would love the thought that all 3 big men could share 40 minutes with the majority going to cheikh and David.

where are gaines' minutes going to come from? it is damn near impossible to effectively play more than 10 legit minutes.

I don't expect much from Gaines this year, but we don't need much from our big guys this year. They just have to play good d, rebound, don't get in the way of our guards, maybe score a few points/block a shot or two. With the guards we have, we don't need to have a Kenyon Martin in the post. (although it would be very nice!)
