Predictions vs. Providence?

Work prevented me from watching the game too.

Shaq played 19 minutes. How'd he do?

Looks like Cheik was a monster, which is a good sign. 2 games in a row. 8 points, 7 boards, 5 blocks. Was it just a good stat line or was he a stud today?

Game synopsis from my standpoint:
Cats came out with tremendous intensity. Unfortunately it didn't last the entire first half. That's when they started jacking up 3's.
Second half was a good defensive effort. Offensively they broke the full court press effectively leaving guys open for drives to the basket. Went into the spread offense which led to a significant decrease of the lead. Seems when they play the slowdown game, they become very vulnerable.
There were times today when they worked the ball into the paint with 2 guys posting up, high and low. They scored off that formation.
Chekh played a great game vs Batts. He even took 6 shots, put the ball on the floor and made a couple of nice moves.
Cash had 5 assists and at least one steal that I'm not sure they credited him.
Parker played a great game on both ends and fought under the board big time. Sanders played good D, so did Titus.
Shaq! Finally got playing minutes and proved that he can bang the boards as well as provide an offensive kick! Now we know for tomorrow (and beyond).
Guyn played good D but got too handsy and picked up quick fouls.
Good to see JJ back for D, but I'll be curious to see how his ankle holds up.
Overall a pretty decent game but anemic offense still 61 pts/39% .
Too bad we played this game against the Friars and not the Hoyas. I'm not so sure we could have retained the lead.

Couldn't watch from work. Thanks for the rundown!

Parker just drives me crazy. How do you miss both free throws to put the game away. Anytime the UC offense might show any sign of life I would have an automatice foul Parker play to change momentum. At least as a team they are doing okay in that area.

This team does rebound well. Got to give it to them in that area. Of course they get lots of practice with all of the missed shots and free throws.

ARE YOU FRIGGEN KIDDING ME! You people who don't like parker drive me crazy, he was easily......... EEEEAAASSSIIILLLLLYYYYY the player of the game for UC.

You people who don't like parker are unreal, what do you want out of a player???????

I agree 100%. Sure the free throw percentage is very frustrating. I don't understand how a senior guard can hover around the 50%. I think it's all in his head at this point. But besides that, Parker is a vital part of this team. The timely, hard-nosed rebounds he gets make a large impact for the Cats. He has a great ability to get in the lane and finish with contact. Versatile defender.

People are going to realize how valuable he has been when he is gone next year.

What do you mean "you people"? jk

Parker is a stud, tough as nails and carries the team at times. He is a poor free throw shooter. That is the simple summary.

he had 15 points, 10 rebounds, (a double double), 3 assists, 1 steal and NO TURNOVERS!!! in 32 minutes of play. he was 3-5 from the free throw line......... Are you out of your mind, to come on here and start complaining about someone who didnt turn the ball over once and had a double double just because he missed 2 freethrows. UNREAL, that is just so unreal to me, I'd rather a guy miss 10 free throws than turn the ball over 5 times.

It's just amazing how u people hang on that one stat! and he only missed 2 ft's UNREEEEEAAALLLL!

Beat me to it. Parker had the best game out of anyone, and you bash him for missing just two free throws on the day. Get a grip.

I know it's been a long season, but there are plenty of positives to take away today.

Parker drives me crazy but he was probably the best player for UC today. Cash on the other hand. The offense is just flat out bad sometimes b/c he just stands around and watches or pounds the ball into the wood. And some of his shots are horrendous. Mbodj was very good again today.

I've yet to watch the game but did see the highlights on ESPN.com and I loved seeing some highlights of our players moving toward the basket. Especially without the ball, thats huge for offense production. Also loved seeing Shaq get close to 20 min., hopefully that continues. We have a great opportunity and honestly a good chance to beat GT. We should have beat them a month ago and for some reason they do not concern me as much as say, UL or Syracuse or MU. Lets go Cats!!

In the first half they played at a fast paced and it created a lot of open looks. Their ball movement in the first half was the best it's been since the BE schedule started. Unfortunately, the last few minutes of the first half and the majority of the second half, they went back to their old self.

Guyn needs to stop picking up so many stupid fouls when he comes in. With him and Cash in foul trouble it became difficult to put pressure on Providence. He had four fouls and hardly played.

Just looked it up. Guyn had four fouls in four minutes of play. That is hilarious. He really could have helped since Cash was not playing well.

I think Guyn was just trying a little too hard. His fouls were all reach ins. He was playing good D, just a little too aggressive. Cash had lots of steals before Mick got on him for fouling at midcourt attempting to steal. As a result his D suffered and everybody got on him for it. People blamed it all on his injuries. Guyn will learn. He's not a detriment with his play - well not too detrimental may be a better description. He's still helping keep opponent's FG % low. He's very quick.

Thanks for that! I was wondering what was going on in the final minutes of the 1st half because it looked like Prov. only had like 8 points with 5 min. to go and saw they ended up with 23.

Noticed something very interesting. Last 4 minutes of 1st half-we scored 3, they scored 12. Last 4 minutes of 2nd half-we scored 12, they scored 5. I do realize we had lots of ft's, but still, it is very interesting.

Im glad Mbodj has finally started reading this board!

He is playing with some aggression!

Blaming Mick again?

Guyn does commit some stupid fouls. When he poked the Providence player in the face for his 4th, Mick looked at him and said "What are you doing?"

Thought the Bearcats played their best all around game in 2-2 1/2 months. Loved the aggression. Using Shaq and Sanders for 17-19 minutes was a big plus not only from a strategy and production standpoint but it saved legs too. Back to back games over 3-4 days is grinding, especially in a championship atmosphere. I thought Sanders played really good D yesterday and really what more can be said of Shaq.
