General football question because I've never played. Are CB's and DB's trained to not play the ball? Why do our corners never see the ball and stare at their man.

College DBs do have a tough time playing the ball. That's for sure. I think it's just a hard position to play in today's college football.
 
This has been a fun game to watch. I know Purdue is bad but it's nice to impose our will on someone in a road game.

The technique being taught to most players today is to stay on the receiver's hip and run with them. As a result, it makes it more difficult to find the ball. The way the contact on receivers is called today, you have to play this way and then watch the receiver's eyes to determine when to turn to find the ball. Not an easy position to play well.

Wow, that would be incredibly hard. You take it for granted watching the NFL because they make it seem so easy. Thanks for answering that.
 
This game can't end quick enough...hate feeling like no lead is safe.

Doesn't help when we aren't running the ball too good.
