It was a very accurate report. This team is pretty good. You guys are going to see some intense defense on Saturday, as intense as you'll see all year. Don't start talking Duke yet, it's going to be a fun game to watch

Go Rhody
Side note: I grew up with Danny. He was as intense playing ball when we're young as he is now. I always hope his teams do well but not this time.

Gary Clark needs to start looking to score, we can't play Moore at all imo and kj needs to play like kj in March cuz if his shot is not falling he is completely useless

This the most important OOC game. The difference between beat Rhode Island/playing Duke vs. losing to Rhode Island/beating Penn State is very significant.
I agree. Beating a ranked opponent in RI and just playing duke can be a big help later in the year.

If I am RI I try to get Washington in early foul trouble. We have been a much different team when he hasn't been on the floor. Him and Gary have got to give us some post scoring. If this happens we may get a few open looks on the perimeter.

Im less worried about this games tournament implications and more so the fan implications . If UC loses, just another excuse to not show up to games, be a terrible fan base and bitch about wanting huggins back

Christ man. LET IT GO. Attendance at any program in a mid-tier conference ebbs and flows with WINNING/LOSING.

Ill provide you the following: http://www.ncaa.org/championships/statistics/ncaa-mens-basketball-attendance

We have been in the top 50 in attendance for better part of the last decade, averaging far greater than some of those schools who you would consider to be "great fans". Please spare me your biased, trolling diatribe.

With your never-ending focus on this, God forbid you miss a game this year or God might strike you right where you sit. In fact, give me your seat and location and I'll be sure to monitor YOUR attendance this year and beyond

No one ever bitches about wanting Huggins back. You're building a straw man. It's not productive. Find me a post by anyone here stating that they want Bob Huggins to be the coach. You're talking to people who don't exist with comments like that. It isn't real. It's a narrative that you have created. Keep it up though...it's great for the fan base!

I hate playing on Monday's bc then we have to wait all week for another game. At least we'll have 2 in a row this weekend and don't have to watch the football team anymore.

My never ending focus on this? My focus started on this at least vocally was after the last game.

Ok. they may not explicitly say they want Huggins back, But most threads here get some how turned into an Anti Cronin theme and talk about how good we used to be.

Im not wrong for challenging a fan base to pay literally $10 to see a Ranked UC team that deserves its fans support play. Im not sure why its so offensive. Its not just a UC problem, its a cincinnati fanbase problem. How many times did Chad Johnson have to buy tickets in order for the game not to be blacked out? We had a winning team then too.

Xavier fans give me shit about our attendance. No one can explain it or understand it. Sure we get 9k by seasons end on average. But that fact is we had 13,505 total attendance last year in first 2 games vs 12,368 total this year in 2 games. So its not me over reacting, attendance is down 8.5% from last year.

We were 47th in Attendance last year but averaged just 71% capacity. Dayton has a bigger arena than us, and averaged 12941 fans a night which is 96% Capacity every night.

Ill give it up. But Im certainly not wrong about our fan base. Also I'd personally rather then shrink Fifth down to 8000 seats so we can almost sell out every night.

PS my passion for this comes out of love for UC basketball. I support my team. Just frustrated so many other refuse to

Hey, I agree to some extent but to stay in tune with my posting about threads being off topic, please keep the discussion regarding the URI game. I'd love to talk about this, but maybe in the appropriate thread.

I think the game Monday was unique in that the Bengals were playing too so it was easy to stay home and watch both. I don't know what attendance is like across the country, but it feels like College Basketball has kind of snuck up on everyone this year (not Xavier fans bc they have nothing else to look forward to). One of the podcasts I was listening to was calling for College Basketball to start the week after Thanksgiving when the regular season of College Football wraps up. Just doesn't seem like anyone but the junkies are ready for it at this point. Having said all that, if we have a good showing this weekend, I'd bet on pretty good attendance from here on out.

For me personally, it's tough as an out of towner. I have family in other cities besides Cincinnati too, so I do what I can. I made a special trip a couple years back to see SK get to 2,000 vs Louisville. The last 2 times I've been to town during basketball season have been for wrddings and the team was out of town. I'm definitely going to do everything I can to make it for a game this year. I haven't checked the schedule, but maybe I could rig a trip to get to 2 in 1.

Yes good point. I will take any follow-up elsewhere.

Agreed. There's always so many negative comments that comes from grown adults. Makes our program look awful. The R.I. dudes that commented had so many positives about their team, they probably read half of this stuff and laughed.

We have it so bad. #25 program.

Fans will come. Beginning of the season is always rough.

R.I. does scare me. Duke doesn't seem invisible. Would love to play them.

Rhode Island has been bad for a long time. Of course they're optimistic bc for once they don't stink. Doesn't seem like they were big fans of the previous coach. I'm guessing it hasn't been rainbows and unicorns on their boards very often in the last 20 years. We might have negative comments coming from our fans, but that's bc we have high expectations for our program. And we don't have to live in any kind of fantasy land bc at the end of the day, we know where we belong. And it's way above where Rhode Island belongs.

Is their game tonight televised?
