Reatimerpi.com has UC 24th with a SOS of 117.
That shows just how bad some of teams are that UC has played so far. With games against Oregon, ISU, Pitt, New Mexico, and Alabama (granted they have struggled big time lately), their SOS should be much higher but their cupcakes games are against teams at the very bottom of the RPI and drag their SOS way down.
The RPI is not relevent on January 2 as not enough games have been played. No need to check the RPI until March 1 at the earliest.
Same goes for Jerry "greasy" Palm, Joe Lunardi, and anyone else's NCAA bracket projections. Bracket projections are a crap shoot at best until about March 8th.
Blah Blah Blah and by March we will be looking pretty and your one minded argument will be put to rest. Our OOC schedule was good this year, easily the best in 5 years and has prepared us for BE play. Look at all the other top 25 teams, they play all those "cupcakes" too. Just look at Pitt, Cuse etc etc.
What is my one minded argument? Someone needs to relax a little bit, I was simply making an observation. I agree our OOC was good this year. Frankly the RPI is very flawed in how it calculates SOS. A 200 rpi team is an easy win just the same as a 350 rpi team but it isn't calculated that way.
Even the cupcakes on our schedule will improve when they start winning games in conference. SOS will at least be in the top 50 by seasons end. Fun to track rpi though.
I like tracking it throughout the season.
i do too. guess i'm somewhat of a rpi junkie. with that said i put no weight in it till feb.
Same here but I think it's fun to watch the upcoming opponents and seeing how a win or loss will effect ours.
Wake Forest is actually pretty good. They only lost to Iona at home by 26.
