I spoke to Whit personally at a women's basketball game a day or two after his hiring and he specifically told me he would address the basketball scheduling, and he has followed through on that promise. If Mick was involved, then I appluad him also. This is all that we've asked for as fans. We're paying a lot of money for tickets and watching 9 or 10 games of teams we've never heard of.
Hopefully there are more announcements coming like this. This is exciting news! Bearcat fans must sell out 5/3 for this game.

So for bball we have NC State coming in.SDSU coming in.Michigan coming in.Whit is talking to C7 schools as well.
It's a miracle! All in one offseason!
All these years people were telling me that 'It was impossible to schedule quality OOC opponents'. Now in one offseason we get deals with three with the potential for more quality schools.
Further illustrates my point that Babcock is the man and Mike Thomas was using the 'they won't play us' card as an excuse to load up on patsies
I think Whit is much better than Mike Thomas but there is more to it than that. You have to look at where the program is now compared to before. It used to be a no win situation for some of these schools to play UC at UC and there is no way UC is taking an away game without a home return. By going to three straight NCAA Tourneys and making it to the Big East Final last year, this program is now viewed as a major player in college hoops again. Keep winning and it will be easier and easier to get these big time OOC games.
Good points...I didn't really think of it that way.
Bottom line is I'm Glad they are taking a more aggressive schedule approach to the OOC. I think it will help build more excitement for the team overall and hopefully that translates into great attendance in November/december
Xavier, New Mexico, San Diego State, NC State, Wright State...Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Add an early season tournament in there and we're looking at only 4 or so true cupcakes.

But there will be cupcakes in league now. I hope the last 4 games are high mid majors or mid high majors from big 6 conferences.
Why doesn't Dayton get scheduled anymore? I remember in the early 2000's they were playing every year for a while. They haven't been GREAT in recent years, but they at least go to the NIT almost every season.
Mick said at his presser that he expects to play Louisville twice next year...
