Scouting Harvard

We can/have held UL and Memphis in the 50's we can damn sure do it against Harvard. Its all about how many can we score.

Yea I'm not worried about Harvard scoring bunches and beating us. I'm worried about JJ getting two quick fouls and being a non factor. I'm worried about a stagnant offense that defers to SK all game long, and he's forced to take bad shots, not making them. And I'm worried about guys trying to play beyond themselves and doing things they shouldn't (Rubles, Guyn).

Basically, I'm not worried about Harvard, I'm worried about the Cats beating themselves.

If we deflect passes taking them out of their O, rebound the ball on both sides of the court, limit turnovers and drive the basket, we win going away.

I would love nothing more than if Harvard pushes the tempo. I actually think UC is pretty good when they push the tempo (especially when Caupain is playing), they just hardly ever do it. With an offense that is so dependent on SK, pushing the tempo creates open looks for others not to mention how good SK is in the open court.
I say same for years, we are better team when we run. Remember couple years ago when we ran Missouri out the gym.

Worked pretty well on senior night too.

No doubt. Thats why there are no excuses why we can't put up 70 points. If our players, especially seniors are focused and determined to work hard on the offensive end it should be lights out victory. Time for them to show up big and be focused.

Cincinnati has consistently been one of the slowest teams in the country in terms of tempo under Cronin. They simply haven't had a good enough point guard to play an uptempo game (Cashmere Wright was too banged up his whole career). Even Mick has mentioned that the players sometimes use offense to catch their breath. UC's got to be the only team in the country like that, most players would rather take off a defensive possession to get the ball back and score!

It a be nice if GG would actually looked like he's interested and let us see that vertical leap in game. He also makes big difference on D because he literally ALWAYS has his hands up.

Yes, they have been. Doesn't mean they should be. Cash was plenty healthy enough to run an up tempo offense. If you want to sit on whatever Mick says, he also said he struggled getting Cash to just get the ball and run without stopping to look at Mick for direction, so obviously Mick wanted him to run more than he did. And Caupain is plenty capable of it.

Yes with both Caupain and Johnson playing more minutes next year UC will push the tempo more. UC was an uptempo team for the first portion of the schedule including games against Oregon and Iowa State, hell they were in the top 10 in scoring offense. Teams easily figured out how to beat UC, which was to slow the tempo and force them into a half court game. To make matters worse, Cash hurt his knee and shoulder...

I like my Cats chances. Harvard hasn't faced a defense like ours all year and will not be prepared for it. 58-50 the good guys.

Seen Obama is on the Harvard train thats just sweeping the country by storm picking them over the CATS... Sports Illustrated had Harvard as well last night winning, I'm sorry but was Harvard on national tv all year, when did everyone see them play?

GO BEARCATS!!!

Exactly. All we hear is "defense wins championships", but apparently they doesn't apply to Cincy. Guess we're just the trendy team to hate on for the last decade.

No, Harvard just has a did team and pulled an upset last year. And too many people think last year has an effect on this year.

every player still looks at him EVERY possession still to this day. Mick needs to loosen them up and let them run. Why do we need elite athletes if were not going use them. Guyn and Shaq have extraordinary leaping ability but never dunk ball.

Even Lunardi in his team by team breakdowns has Harvard pulling the upset. I love it. All the talking heads putting the pressure on Harvard by picking them only fuels our fire...can Thursday get here already. I think it's time to prove another point. Let's go Bearcats!

Lunadri is the biggest hack job in the history of hack jobs. He's basically the Mel Kiper Jr. of the NCAA tourney. This year he accurately predicted 2 out of a total 32 potential first round match-ups correctly (unfortunately for UC fans we were one of those 2 games, I was hoping for a 4 seed - the other was a 1/16 match-up). I get that he prides himself on picking the bubble teams (more on that in a second) but then why seed the teams and slot them in match-ups on your bracket if you're never going to be right??

Bracketology is a total joke, I say this every year and yet most people seem to always follow it like it's the law.

Lunardi's claim to fame is a 95% accuracy on picking the correct teams in the field of 64 over the last 5 years. This is the stupidest and most loaded stat of all time. Even the most casual of college basketball fans could accurately project 90% of the field considering that half the teams are guaranteed a spot and 40% of them are considered locks. The only somewhat challenging part of projecting a bracket is the last 10% of the teams who will make it and that means that Lunardi gets it right 50% of the time for the teams on the bubble. You're just as well off flipping a coin or pulling the bubbles team names out of a hat.

Besides all of that, Lunardi uses the BPI system to predict his picks which is a formula that is completely made up by ESPN and is not even considered by the selection committee.

Lunardi is a complete hack, his predictions hold zero value.

Been saying it all week, Harvard over Cincinnati is an easy upset pick on paper. You've got a 12/5 game, a team with good guards that pulled an upset last year against a team that relies on one guy and struggles to score. Not to mention they are Harvard, and the nation loves to root for underdogs.

Remember when a lot of people picked NDSU to beat Michigan last year? Or when Belmont was picked to beat Arizona? Or the year earlier when Belmont was picked to beat Wisconsin? Most of these trendy upset picks never transpire.

You mean my NCC pick over Iowa St. is just a pipe dream?

NC Central does play the correct type of game to beat Iowa State because they slow tempo and grind out possessions. However, they are a lot like UC in they rely heavily on Ingram. He scored 29 against UC, 29 against NC State and 37 against Wichita State. It could be close for a while but ISU has too many weapons.

Ya I am really sick and tired of everyone picking Harvard. I am in a couple bracket pools and literally everyone except for me has picked Harvard because the "listen to the experts". All of the so called "experts" are giving cincy no love outside of Seth Greenberg
