Scrimmage

It just sucks having no choice but to practice with walk-ons and guys who aren't eligible. And for fans, a lot of people have mentioned wanting to get Midnight Madness back...doesn't sound that appealing when you only have 8 players performing and Tobler is playing all 40 minutes in the scrimmage. Seems like this is being addressed though...at leaat for next year.

I did like hearing troy get on tobler. He hit him for an open three and tobler hesitated then dribbled in and passed the ball. After the play troy pointed to him and said "if you're going to play, shoot that sh*t". Next time same thing, tobler hit the three. Now if we're seeing tobler playing in anything other than mop up duties we're in trouble, but I just liked the vocal leadership out of troy

I'd rather have Tobler play all 40 than Mick play Evans and Cumberland hurt to please the fans. We have more than enough players this year...

You're completing missing the point if you honestly think this has to do with fans demanding the coach play guys through injury in a scrimmage to please them.

I hope it's just precautionary but injuries on the wing was my biggest fear this year. Last year Cobb, Thomas and Evans all spent at least some time injured. We now have two of our 3 wings not able to play and Broome can't help us this year.

We have two point guards and 5 bigs. Being super thin on the wing is not going to be an excuse i am interested in hearing from the coach this year.

I was just doing a little off-season busting of your balls, , just trying to see if you improved over the summer

Anyone who watched that scrimmage and saw anything other than Cane Broome looking like an absolute stud, was watching a different scrimmage than I was. Someone was wondering yesterday how he would do with Troy guarding him. It was a no contest. Troy can't guard him. Not many others will be able to guard him either. Phenomenal talent! Looks like he can score in a number of ways. Has ball skills and moves that are off the chart. Next year just got very exciting for me.

Nysier Brooks was a hugely pleasant surprise. He'll contribute from day 1. We were worried about the bench and depth. Not anymore for me. We'll be fine.

I didn't see much out of Caupain. I thought he was disappointing. Again, I don't like him as a point guard. I worry more about him and KJ than anything else. I think that combo is somewhat weak. I'll be glad to eat these words if they prove me wrong.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with what I saw, but unfortunately, the best of what I saw is not on this year's team, and that is a shame.

Thanks for the recap. I wish I had Ben able to make it.

I'm glad Cane looked good. Troy's stat line looked good - 19 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists. Glad to hear the positive reviews on Nysier. If he can guard a little, rebound and protect the paint - that should be all we need from him.

Sounds like Gary was a mop up guy. Only 7 points, but 14 rebounds, 5 assists and several blocks. Love his game.

It also sounds like Washington was solid. 24 points on decent shooting.

Also, Cronin was gushing on your boy JJ. Says he's the most improved player on the team and thinks he'll be a big contributor this year. I really hope that's true.

Can't wait for the season to start.

Go Cats!

Seems like some very mixed reviews. Not sure what to take away from the scrimmage.

I still have a hard time believing Jenifer will play any kind of significant minutes. Cronin spent the whole year last year talking about getting him more minutes...never happened. I'm going to go with the "believe when I see it" approach with this team I guess.

I agree. I think the only minutes he gets are when troy isn't on the floor... Which won't be much.
