SMU Round 2

A couple mins into the second half Napier through the ball up to a wide open player (forget who) from a little beyond mid-court. It was Shaq's man and he was walking back and didn't start to run until the guy took a wide open three point shot which he missed. Shaq was immediately taken out and got a good chewing out for about 45 seconds and never came back in.
Sounds right if you don't guard you don't play. That philosophy is what has fueled this team.

Thanks for that! I hope ST will "Get it" eventually. Too many times this year I see him coming off as pouting. He is a third year sophomore. Hopefully that time is coming soon.

This will be a tough test. Short turn around, away game in different time zone against quality opponent. Really want to win this game. Would be a huge get moving us closer to conference title. I'm going with my heart and saying Cats in a close one.

Cats are 3.5 underdogs in this one

Shaq has got to get back to double figures GG keep it up and my man this game is Rubles would love to see a close if not double double for him.

Cats-67
Stangs-63

No doubt about him getting the stats. I truly don't think he gives two s*its if SK and JJ getting the run. All he cares about is winning. I do think he will be extra aggressive being in Dallas. There is 0 reason why he doesn't average 10 points a game though.

He was interviewed by Mick's daughter Sammi on this weeks Mick Cronin Show on Fox Sports Ohio. One of the questions she asked him was what he likes to do in his spare time and she followed it up asking if he liked to sleep for fun. His response was "nah, nothing comes to you when you sleep." Perfect answer from probably the hardest worker on the team.

Also, I love to sleep. Not sure what that says about me.

Surprised he didn't quote the great poet with, "I never sleep cause sleep is the cousin of death."

SMU fans are calling this the biggest game since the 1980's. The big bad boys in black are back folks...

I was just thinking that if UC loses tonight there's a real possibility that the SMU fans rush the court. And I encourage it.

It will show just how far this program has come and to me is a sign of respect.

I never thought about that but good point. There better not be any students rushing or I'll be pissssed.

Actually, I think there is a reason. While he has stopped taking three pointers, he still suffers from poor shot selection. There is a rather amazing site called hoop-math.com that is tracking shot selection for all CBB teams. Check out Rubles' shot breakdown.

Among the top 8 scorers, he takes the 2nd most 2-pt jumpers (as a pct. of total shots) behind only Shaq, but hits the second fewest ( behind only Caupain) and is the 2nd least likely to be assisted on them (behind only Guyn). In other words, he takes too many low value shots, outside of the flow of the offense, and he isn't good at knocking them down.

He is a wonderful player, but the less he tries to be a scorer, the better.

Oh, and don't spend too much time looking at Lawrence's shot breakdown. It will poison your soul.

We have thought many of the past 15 games were going to be tough but we always won. UC is legit and is a better team than smu, i understand it is on the road, but our best players are three seniors who know what this team can accomplish and will not allow a let down game. This team is good, its not a hot streak that is going to fizzle out, its going to last, I see us winning this.

This is SMU'S Super Bowl. They are as psyched as possible - the crowd will be as much or more intense than Louisville. A victory against UC could jump them into the top 25. They really feel they could have won the game in Cincy.
The Cats had better strap it on & be ready to ball from the opening tip. Getting behind in this setting would be tough. UC needs to hammer down from the get go.

Honestly I am not too worried about the crowd. Our guys have played in enough big tough environments in their bearcat careers. This year alone playing @UL and @ Memphis they handled that well. Obviously I would love to just dominate this game. I feel like we have a good chance to do that and flex our muscle. SMU wants to be where we are but they aren't. Let's show them why tonight!! I'm already hyped up for this game!!

Tickets that are typically 15-20 dollars are going for more than 100 dollars on StubHub!! This is truly SMU's Super Bowl!
Not surprising. Beating us the 7th rated team in the country would go along way in solidifying the Tournament resume.

It'd be a huge him for their program in general. Big statement vs a top 10 team and they'd be ranked next week. The media would start taking notice.

Been having a bad feeling about this game. But I still keep thinking Cincy will pull it out and I think they will. But I think we will be losing at halftime and throughout alot of the game but then we will pull it out and win.
Cincy- 66
SMU- 59
