Waite, 4 teams in our "dumpy" conference found a way to get seeded higher than us this year. Somehow they make it work.

If Cronin left UC, what kind of job do you think he'd get? I highly doubt t he'd get a P5 job.
Jake you are wrong and he has turned down P5 jobs previously. I'm sure Chad can elaborate if he wants but I won't because its content I learned on his site. Jake we beat UCONN twice. We Split with SMU and should have won both, Tulsa and Houston were splits. We have lost very close frustrating games this year. Have we underachieved, probably but it is far from a disaster of a season. Has it met my expectations to this point no but it's not over yet either. Relax brother.

I don't mean in the past. I mean right now. I don't think Cronin's stock as a coach is where it once was.

Oh well, not worth going there in this thread. Good win today. Good for the Seniors.

Got ya. It was a very nice win for the seniors. I updated my post apparently after you replied. Have a good evening.

I'm ready for Clark to break out in Orlando. He and Ellis will be very important.
hope your right. After a really nice run of games Gary has fallen off a bit lately. Ellis is so unpredictable. He played well in spurts today and when you couple it with DeBerry's game today we got good production from the 5 spot. Really would like to see Cobb step up in Orlando. When him and KJ give us something at the 2 we usually play well.

Well once again CATS turn back the BB clock of time with their offense. Still way too in love with the 3. But I'll take it. Too play like that and win I guess says something.

Which P5 jobs did he turn down? I'd love to see your evidence of this.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Iowa State want to interview him before Hoiberg and also believe Oklahoma showed previous interest as well. Don't forget NC State also showed a high level of interest as well. Coach Cronin is seen in a much brighter light nationally than he is locally. No doubt this year's team has underachieved but maybe we expected too much out of them. Taking a look at our current roster I think 22-9 is pretty much an accurate assessment. Hell just think if his players could finish off games they'd be maybe 26-5 and top 15 in the country and #1 seed in conference tourney.

His recruiting is starting to show off in players like Evans, Capuain, Jenifer, Cumberland, Washington and Clark. Some of those players haven't played yet but the talent is far and away better than it was this time 4-5 seasons ago.

He will at one point have the most wins of any D1 coach under 50yrs!

Thanks for responding. I think we probably created a bit to high expectation and they probably underachieved a bit.

Your also absolutely right that Coach would land a job in a hurry if he put his name out there. What you wrote has been reported elsewhere. If Louisville makes a change you think they would ask about Mick's availability? People in the profession understand what Mick has accomplished and built here under the circumstances. Certainly the history and tradition was a big help to him but it was absolutely a dumpster fire. Now it still remains to be seen how far can he take us but I do like what he has done to this point.

Curry and Thompson shooting 1-18 from 3 today. Guess it even happens to the best.
Yeah I guess. If you like to compare Apples and Watermelons. Curry finished with 18,6,4 still. On an off night. I learned in my first year of Basketball if you can't make it from out there then bring it in alittle. For one they have no variety in their Offense. Teams know exactly what their going to do. Zero movement. And they shoot like this from 3 almost every game. Today was at home also. Golden State was on the road. I'm not trying to take away anything from this game. But the O needs gutted and reloaded.Take the FT's away today I believe they scored 39pts. Not too good.

I don't remember that, but an interest to interview is no way shape or form a job offer. I'd love to see any evidence whatsoever of a job offer from a P5 school as Waite suggested.

I don't think expectations were too high. This team has talent. They have deficiencies but they should have been able to hold their own against AAC, especially considering the experience on the team. Unfortunately Mick has done a very poor job with this team up to this point. It's hard to deny that. They finished 5th in the AAC. Let that sink in.

As for recruiting, I'm not as optimistic as you are. Perhaps recruiting has been better, but it still isn't that good. Take a look at these classes and you tell me (2012 and back was awfult but no need to rehash that far back):

2013: Caupain, KJ, Morman, Strickland, Lawrence - pretty much another complete bust of a recruiting class.

2014: Clark, Cobb, Deberry, Ellis, Quadri Moore - not horrible, but not good and mostly Jucos. Quadri is a bust. Clark obviously is good.

2015: Evans, Jennifer, Scott - Evans looks good, Jennifer can't even get minutes and is pretty bad when he does, and Scott is completely unknown and wasn't highly recruited.

2016: Cumberland, Brooks - Never played a game but Cumberland was good get, Brooks wasn't heavily recruited. And that's it so far.

Doesn't look too good to me.

Hard to believe he hasn't made a FG in the last 2 games!

4 years ago we defeated #6 Marquette on Senior Day. That roster had Sean Kilpatrick (2nd leading scorer in school history), Cashmere Wright (top 75 recruit, 3 yr starter that scored over 1300 points), Dion Dixon (2 yr starter that scored over 1200 points), Yancy Gates (top 25 recruit, scored over 1400 points and over 900 rebounds), and JaQuan Parker (2 yr starter).

I don't think it is fair to say we are much more talented. That 2012 team had a much better year in a much tougher conference. I'd argue that we've flatlined as a program since.

bottom line is this, we beat a team ranked 24 in country with two injured starters, in a must win game many thought we would lose. They had a BPI of 8 and a RPI of 11. We shot terribly but stil won. Enjoy the moment. Many fan bases have far fewer Moments to enjoy then us.

Before anyone comes back and gives me the whole speech about lack of expectations save it. Of course I want more. I want to be Duke. right now that ain't happening. The whys are well documented.

As a fan there are two things that interest me. Having a better program and winning the next game. No matter what we expected to happen this year we had a must win game today for a likely bid to the dance. That's an exciting game to me.

The UConn game will be the next game and just as important. Then hopefully we make the AAC finals to get better seeding. All these games are meaningful and exciting to me regardless of expectations.

When the season is over we can make judgments but for now I'm cheering my ass off!

I don't think Cronin is seen in a much brighter light nationally. I've lived in 2 non-Cincinnati cities in the Midwest during his tenure...and most of the college bball fans I know had no idea who he was before they met me. And the ones who did know made fun of him for acting like a nut on the sideline.
