I think expectations are now ncaa tournament bare min, and i know the SOS and rpi detractors, but kenpom has had them in its top 30 for a while and i think thats a better indicator of future success.

were prob gonna have a tough time in the next 5 games

@ nova
vs S FLA
@ syr
@ ND
@ St Johns

but really, even if they just go 2-3 against that slate of games theyll be ok, but that wont be easy.

My favorite stat for people who doubt how good they are:

UCs played 6 top 150 rpi teams (wright st, miami, dayton, xu seton hall and ipfw).

Theyve beaten those 6 top 150 by an average of 16.83 points

we are about to find out how good this team is....

Dayton was a first big win for us because its dayton. A win at Oklahoma was big because it was a first big name program on the road. Beating Xavier was huge because it regained the city and fans.

But now its time to play some real teams, with some real talent. Lets see how the cats respond. Next grouping of games will be very tough.

2 wins would be solid. 3 would be damn good and 4 would be amazing.

Nova is a DAMN tough game. Short rest, after the shootout and the #7 team on the road.

I expect this team to go 3-2 through this next stretch. I have no idea where the other two wins will come from (South Florida at home is the first) but I'm confident Mick will come up with a gameplan this team and the seniors can execute to pull off a couple upsets. I still think they beat St. John's twice. So I'll say that's where the 2nd win comes from.

If UC can split the road games and beat S. Florida they will have positioned themselves very well for the rest of the season. A split on the road automatically gives you two quality wins on the road.

Why can't we just win them all? I'm looking for 20-0. We can play with anybody. We dominated every challeonge so far.

I work with a bunch of people that live in Syracuse and I would absolutely love to go in there undefeated and give them a game. Would make my year if we beat them and I could rub that in a bit.

Exactly.

By the way, and by the way, it appears to this point in the season that you were right. Hopefully, you will be right come March. It is great to have Bearcat basketball back.

It's probably too early to mention this, but one question that I think may be interesting towards the end of the season...

Will the Bearcats have any "bad" losses?

I guess if they lose to South Florida or at Depaul. But my feeling is even those teams don't just give you a victory. All the conference teams will be tough. I see our RPI being pretty strong in only a few weeks.

Just the next two games will be exciting to watch to see this team's composure.
GO BEARCATS

Undefeated out of conference basically means no bad losses. You are right.

UC's rpi is 55 today. It won't be any lower than that the rest of the season. I would not be surprised to see them end up with an rpi around 25 or so.

Thank you for the props. We play 9 road games in conference. This stretch will put us basically at the half way point in that regard. after this there are no more than 2 road games in a row. Still, the Bearcats need to be road warriors. They have a nasty road schedule, including games at Pitt, Marquette and Georgetown after this stretch at Villanova, Syracuse, St. Johns and Notre Dame. In other words you are playing all the current top tier teams at their place. If they finish top 5 or better they will deserve it.

If they lost @ DePaul it would be a bad loss as would a loss at home to USF. Other than that I believe they only play RPI top 50 teams the rest of the way. That's insane.

EDIT:

Rutgers probably isn't RPI Top 50. I would imagine they're around 100.

If I remember right, and you take the Bearcats remaining schedule game by game, their opponents are something like 175-51 currently. There is no doubt that their rpi and sos will drop drastically an if they continue to win that they will be dancing.

Do they dance if the team goes .500 over their remaining schedule?
8 wins 8 losses. I think there is a chance they might, but it'd be close.

That's what RealtimeRPI.com has them predicted to achieve, basically winning at home and the one game at DePaul. I could see them looking a little better on the road than that, but it's hard to say. And if we can't beat Georgetown on the road, can we beat them at home?

I'm optimistic always about their chances, but I guess I tread cautiously with my hope after the past few seasons.

Road games in the BE are tough. If we win 4 games on the road in conference play, I'm a happy Bearcat fan.

PALM ALERT*********PALM ALERT******************PALM ALERT

Jerry Palm has UC as an 8 seed right now in Ohio St's region... a UC/OSU matchup in round 2... hmm... not right now... but maybe by March...

As of today realtimerpi has them at 23-8 and 10-8 in league play.
