I posted about Caleb Stacey earlier this week. He had a change of heart and decided to decommit from Michigan and stay home to play at Cincinnati. He is a high 3/low 4 star prospect on the offensive line and could play either tackle or inside at guard or center. He is going to play center for the USA U-19 team coached by Steve Specht of St. X for the first time ever.
He fills an obvious need and frankly is a very good OL prospect. This is one of the best OL classes from Ohio in a while and he probably didn't get the publicity that he may have in other years. Coach Jones was not actively recruiting Caleb while he was committed to Michigan but a comment Coach Jones made at Junior Day at UC stuck with Caleb. He basically said to remember that the grass isn't always greener. That stuck with Caleb and he called coach Jones last week asking if there was a spot for him.
I don't know how many surprises you will see on signing day. Coach Jones is seemingly not one to go after another school's commitments unless there is a coaching change or a kid tells him he is still interested in UC (like Caleb Stacey). There is still a commitment pending from Monty Madaris and it appears UC and Michigan State are the front runners. That may be decided this week so it may not be a signing day surprise. There are always going to be surprises but I think this class is about as set in stone as possible without ink on the paper.
