Take that ACC!

Miller is a Pitt alum, I think he jumps at the chance. I know for a fact it's his dream job.

Huggins was a WVU alum and it was his dream job. He turned it down while at UC. I am not saying Miller will but it is not necessarily a done deal.

It actually is a bigger "If" then people think. Rumors were going around awhile ago that something went on between Miller and Pitt big enough to keep Miller away even if the job was offered. If he becomes a powerhouse at Arizona soon (which, I think is only a matter of time) and something did go on between Pitt and Miller- I could see those two being reasons for him to stay at Zona. In fact, even if nothing went on- if/when he becomes a powerhouse and is the top school in the west- I could see him staying at Arizona for the rest of his career.

I agree with this. Plus, it is much easier to compete in the Pac 12 than in a newly stacked ACC. It is still a prestiguous league with UCLA and USC there (and obviously Arizona). Other schools have had good runs but who would you rather play, UCLA, USC, Washington, Wash St, Stanford, Oregon OR Duke, UNC, Syracuse, NC State, Virginia, Miami, Florida St, BC?

Where was Pitt before Howland? They were an average to below average program. You can only luck out in hiring so many times before it doesn't work out. There is nothing guaranteeing Pitt success in the ACC if and when Dixon leaves.

Where was Duke before coach K? IU before Knight? Syracuse before Beoheim? UConn before Calhoun? UC before Huggins (yea, I know, but Badger was a looong time ago)? You get the drift. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but Pitt has built a very solid foundation and is why they didn't miss a beat with Dixon. Calling it luck doesn't do them justice.

I don't think the foundation at Pitt is as great as you do. Plain and simple.

Miller did start his coaching career in the ACC at NC State. Not sure if he would like to go back to the ACC- but, as I said- if he creates a national power- and possibly THE team to go to in the West- it will be tough to leave.
