Tonights good and bad.

The Good:
- Dion shot the ball well.
- Cash shot the ball well.
- 9 blocked shots was impressive
- A win

The Bad:
- 20 turnovers, 5 by cash... simply poor choices. More turnovers than assists from your pg position cannot happen. Passes where lazy.

- Sk seemed invisible at times. He did hit a few shots tonight, but when this team needs a bucket he needs to show up. At times you forgot he was on the court

- bench play. two games, 85 minutes play, 15 points, 9 turnovers to 6 assists. Parker and chek better bring it this season or ima start to be concerned

- Yancy of old. Absolutely inexcusable the effort level he gave. Him holding onto the ball to long in the post is clearly a issue that hasnt been solved

- the overall effort defensively was terrible. Blown by for layups all second half.

- rebounding. There biggest guy was 6'7? Out rebounded offensively

- And finally Micks comments.... In his postgame he talked over and over again about how if his guys didnt want to play he was going to make them play? Claims reverse physiology.... Sorry Mick, this is a bad statement. If your players dont give the effort they dont play. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Agree with all but Micks comments. I have no problem with letting them play. He will use that to grill them in film.

I was happy to see Cash step up for 6 points when they got it marginally close. He looked to score and did.

Jaquon will need to play a bigger role than most of us would like. Cheik can not get back any sooner.

there have been a few comments on this thread regarding not getting Parker back fast enough...this team will be in trouble if they are going to depend on Parker to contribute on defense, and especially offense...what has he shown that says he will make this team better?...i am hoping that his offseason workout helped him step up his game, but the kid has realistically had 2 solid games in his tenure with the bearcats...and it scares me when i hear they are considering using him to fill in at the 4 position...on a positive note, 2-0...great having Bearcat basketball back in session!

Go Bearcats!

Parker will HAVE to play minutes. The one thing I like about the schedule is it will afford the frosh to play and develop. Cash and Dixon had 10 of the 20 turnovers I believe. Good teams become great teams by playing every minute as if the game is tied. They understand it all helps you get better.

The fact is they are trying to get used to and build a flow with a lot of new guys that don't know what they're doing yet. So I understand some of the flow issues. I don't understand a lack of concentration or effort from your vets. They haven't offensively rebounded in any of the games (exhibition included).

I believe Moog will play in the next game. I also believe Cronin will run their balls off this week. They will play 8-9 guys. 8 normally and 9 with Gaines getting spot minutes. Until 2 freshman show they can play that's the way it has to be.

By the way LL I liked your rundown.

What two freshman do you think it will be?

I have to go with G. Out of all the minutes that will be played, having cash play big time minutes is a concern.... Call me crazy, but I think as the season wears on his knee issues are far from the past.

2nd freshman maybe sanders? Im not really sure.

A 1 or 2 minute scoring drought is not that concerning, IMO. That could be 2 possessions in which you didn't score......especially if the other team is eating clock.

The bigger concern should be quality shots. There was a stretch in the 2nd half when we settled for bad shots, or committed turnovers. I think most of it was fatigue, b/c our depth is limited.

Right.

Im talking about scoring droubts of 5 minutes or more. These teams seem to have a lot of them. Thats why it kills me to see them dribble down the court and be quick to take the open 3. Work the ball and take a high percentage shot, like a layup or dunking the ball. If they cant do it against these weak oppoenents, how will they learn to do it againt BE quality teams?

I don't agree with LL's assessment of Yancy's play. Let me just say that no one played a good second half. The first half, Yancy was getting tripled teamed every time he touched the ball. Mid way through the first half, Yancy had 4 assists. He got frustrated in the second half and frankly, I can't blame him. He got hacked so bad every time he tried to make a move. There were a couple times you could hear the slap throughout the arena and there was no call. Yancy will be fine. He was patient in the first half and took what the defense gave him. He made the right pass and it led to layups or wide open threes (which Dion and Cash were hitting).

He plays with John Riek and UCs national title team. You dont know them?

If John Riek had been able to play for UC Mick would have coached him up. This would have brought the National Title to UC. There is no way to ever prove that my prediction would have been incorrect.

Who was the last guy that Mick considerably coached up? You are thinking Mick has the ability to coach up a guy that averaged 1.2 points a game in his career and turn him into the leader of a National Championship team? No coach in the world could do that, IMO.

I kinda look at this as an excuse.... to be honest yancy should have dominated with scrap points.

Lets be real here, he towered over everyone. Sure he got doubled... he better get used to it.

Fouls are fouls. he better get used to it.

As far as being patient. Hes too patient. he waits WAYYY to long to dish out of the double team, or to make a move in the post.

Ill say it again. Typical Yancy. Played well when he was pissed. dunked on 3 fools when they talked shit. Good players play 40 minutes
