Two Terrible Teams, One has to win.

5 years out and still losing. 5 years with no post season wins. 5 years. People just want to win again. The last time we won was with huggins, its pretty simply why people reflect on the past. If mick won this wouldn't be an issue, but him winning has yet to happen.

I agree, it is generally all about winning. The only issue I have with this post is the huge amount of fans that got purple K-state shirts after huggins became coach there...that is simply ridiculous.

We didnt get any recruiting in Huggins last year. Kennedy knew he wasn't getting the job and when he left we lost another year of recruiting. Mick was hired and scrambled to get some JUCO's that is another lost year of recruiting.

Lets see what your boy huggins would have done with 3 years of no recruiting.

Blame the administrations poor way of handling it but some on here actually want to blame Mick for that. It seems crazy but that is the impression I get from some.

Look at what IU is facing. We we actually worse IMO but they are close.

Winning is happening, just not at the level some unrealistic fans want. It took mick 2 years to become very competitive in the best conference in the country after 3 years of non recruiting and HAVING TO GRADUATE everyone because of the past coaches.

All you people just say we want to win now but have no idea the situation.

This is just an excuse. You of all people know I have been 100% behind mick, until this year. WE HAVE THE TALENT to win this year and we are still getting the same results. Pretty sure i understand the situation, matter of fact my assessment have nothing to do with any of that. Watch the games, the offensive schemes are terrible. The defense is basic and can be much improved. THE TALENT is there this year, the big wins are not.

Forget the past, lets talk about the present day. UC is not where they should be. Period, end of story.

Agree or disagree?

I think we are way ahead of where we should be.

I do think expectations have changed and I am amazed that people are upset that we may not get into the tourny (that is a good thing though).

I am not 100% behind Mick and will wait to the end of the season to make final judgements. His substitutions do bother me.

I am just saying he has done a great job taking us from nothing to a competitve Big East team.

I don't understand your post at all. You say your not 100 percent behind Mick and want to make final judgments later, while right before you say UC is way ahead of where they should be.

What did you expect for this year if UC is way ahead of where they should be?

I agree with you. GreatOne is on the fence all the time but supports him, but wont fully support him? What makes this succesfful for mick?

If we beat USF, DePaul, Marquette but lose to WVU, Nova, and GTown is that a success or a failure?

Overall I am very pleased with Mick.

This year I am not ready to judge him. I have been frustrated like many at times during the year. The difference is I am able to see the big picture.

My judgements on how Mick did this year will be made at the end of the year. Expectations change. How he recruited some of the talent to come here I am still not sure but now that it is here we need to win more games.

I am not giving Mick a lifetime contract here. Overall he has done a very good job.

At times this year he has done great. Maui, Uconn twice, no real bad loses (over 100 rpi). At times I have not been happy.

I dont think IU is far off from being a tournament team. They are only 9-15 this year but have been in a lot of close games and did beat PITT earlier. If not next year i think they are def a tournament team two years from now.

What does mick do to make you say he is the future for UC? What coaching aspects?

Heres what I dont see.
- motivating factor
- offense/ defense schemes
- substitution issues
- public persona

I agree with these points:
- motivating factor
- offense schemes

I think Mick is good at defensive scheming.

The substitutions this year are nuts. Everybody was tired by the end of the season last year, so Mick is swinging the pendulum the other way. Nobody will be tired, but we won't have a starting 5 that has had enough playing time to really hit their stride.

I could care less about his public persona. When he starts winning and winning big, nobody else will care either.

UC was further along with Mick in year two.

I can't say if his offense and defensive schemes are up to par. When your team doesnt shoot well I think it gets blamed on the coaching. Everyone wants people to be moving and screening and they do to a point.

This offense is just like UC with huggins and UL with pitino. Schemes don't change a whole lot.

I agree with substitutions though.

Public persona is whatever. Huggins didnt exactly have a booming personality but winning makes it OK.

Absolutely agree with you on this. Getting your team to play as hard as they do against good teams against those teams that aren't as good is the coaches job. Even Jim Calhoun said that. People can say the defense is good which for the most is, but do we have a full court press when trailing? or a zone that can force tough traps?

And yes, Mick started with nothing but reality is he has something now and you can't look passed those issues.
