UC finishes #22 in Final Coaches Poll

Personally I don't think the final poll should include the tournament. The polls should be about the regular season as a whole and not a single elimination tournament. Though I get the hype for having a final end of tournament poll.

How does the national champion not get all the #1 votes? That's just silly.

I doubt whoever voted someone else #1 is thinking this way but it's not like UConn is the actual best team in the country. They deserve the title and won a 3 week tournament but that doesn't mandate they are the best team.

No that's exactly what it means, right now uconn is hands down the best team in the country, u can't even argue that. They are clearly the best

You're mistaking hottest with best. They deserve the championship, but its not uncommon in college basketball that the best team isn't champion. And you can't even argue that.

Right now uconn is the best team in the country, they are also the hottest but today and for the whole offseason uconn is number 1. U can't deny that they are the best right now, look who they beat and how they played they won the championship and to say any other team is better right now would be false

You keep throwing in the term "right now". This is a stupid argument so I'll leave it at this: They are the best RIGHT NOW. Would they beat most of these teams in a seven game series? I say no. But right now they sre playing the best so I will agree witb your sentiment that they are the best team right now.

Not sure what you are even trying to argue. It is obvious that an increased sample size will give you better indication of the better team. Why stop at an arbitrary number like 7? Why not argue for a 101 game series? It is really pointless...

Sometimes teams just get better as the season goes on and play their best basketball in March. Anyone think that this exact Ky team, if they were still together, would not start a new season as the #1 team in the country?

UConn is a better team than they were 20 games ago, as is Ky. UConn deserves the title, they beat tough teams, a lot of them. Too bad UC doesn't seem to "get hot" in March.

The way I see it, every team in division I has the opportunity to play their way into the NCAA tournament. Once there, they all know what they are signing up for and all have a fair chance to win it all. Any team that wins the championship, regardless of their seed or regular season record, deserves to be considered the best team in college basketball.

Just look at who UConn had to beat to win the championship -- St. Joseph's, Villanova, Iowa State, Michigan State, Florida, and Kentucky. I doubt any team this season played 6 games that tough in a row, and UConn won them all.

That is exactly my point. He was advocating that winning a 6 game tournament means they are the best team and I was just saying it doesn't.

Not a Cronin hater but I just think UC could do better..Why can't he recruit guards that can break down a defense and distribute..He can't get the top players from Ohio or the local area to play at UC..College Bball is about coaches..if you have a recruit and Archie Miller and Mick Cronin are vying for the kid who gets him.Dayton or Cincinnati?

Jamaul Warren was a solid pg ...
Cashmere Wright was a solid pg for 4 years...475 assists and 175 steals
Troy Caupain will be a solid pg...

Was Yancy a top player in Ohio?

What has Archie done? He hasn't finished better than 4th in the A10.
UC hasn't had many recruiting battles with Dayton. More like battling St.J, UConn, UL

Players on Dayton from Ohio:
Kavanaugh was only offered by Dayton and Miami Oh
Devon Scott only offered by UD, Kent and Ohio u
Jalen Robinson actually got a high major offer from WVU and was recruited by Erik Martin

None of these players had a standing offer from Cincy. Scott I believe committed to UC and the coaching staff told him to look elsewhere

Mick Cronin.

I probably shouldn't comment for obvious reasons. But, based on the lack of shooters that we've had during his tenure, and the lack of viable big men, it doesn't seem like he's winning these recruiting battles to me. The guys we get tend to be long term projects that seem to be productive by their junior or senior year. Shag is a good example. JJ is another. SK had more productivity over his whole career, but really put it all together as a senior. The freshmen we had this year have a chance to be more productive earlier and that is encouraging. I don't know if Archie Miller was a good coach to compare to Mick. Until two weeks in March, he was a virtual unknown. I wouldn't think he would win many battles with Mick.

If it's a high motor athlete that has some defensive skills, Mick should win out all the time. If offense is your game, I think you will look somewhere else most of the time.

There is already an answer to this question. Ge Lawn Guyn...

From his gobearcats page:
chose to attend Cincinnati over Baylor, Dayton, Iowa State, Providence, Rutgers and South Florida.

LOL, you do realize Miller wasn't the coach then?
