The top 10 teams on the BEast are 27-2 at home this season. That's pretty impressive. Among those teams Notre Dame is one of the toughest to beat at home.

The Bearcats have to come prepared to play defense. The Irish average over 70 ppg at home. If they give ND open looks it could be a long night. However, I like the match up tonight.

UC is quicker and more athletic than the Irish. They have defenders in Bishop, Dixon, and Davis who match up well physically with Abromaitis and Hansbrough. If Gates can play, and comes motivated, the Irish have nobody that can defend Yancy straight up.

There have been hints that Wilks will get a start tonight to defend mobil 4 man Scott Martin. It won't surprise me to see Thomas back Yancy and Jackson and Wilks rotating on Martin to wear him down.

Both these teams need this game. Both understand how important it is to win the head to head games with the teams near you in the standings. Especially when it's the only time they'll play in the regular season. I expect to see both highly motivated and I expect both to play hard and well.

Cincinnati has not played well offensively all season on the road. Largely because of their shooting. They will look to pressure and and get some points off turnovers. I think Dixon, Cash, and Kilpatrick will attack the lane tonight and put pressure on Notre Dames guards and bigs.

The keys for tonight are Pressure Defense, Limit turnovers, and use your physical gifts to attack the basket. This is going to be a battle for 40 minutes and I expect to see a game of ebb and flow. In the end I think the Bearcats will get their much needed big road win. Cincinnati rides it's defensive and offensive pressure to a 70-64 win tonight.

68-64 ND

Winning on the road is damn tough. In the league it is even harder. Verse a top 20 team that has already beat UConn, Gtown, St Johns it is well.... hard.

ND is an extremely good home team. If this game was at Cincy I would pick us.

I can't say I have a great feeling about this game. But after losing two in a row, UC pulls this one out. It's must win time.

A light turns on and ND shoots surprisingly poor to go along with 18 turnovers... 'Cats survive in South Bend:

#Bearcats vs. #Irish tonight at 7 EST on ESPN2 & @700WLW with @Dan_Hoard & Chuck on the call. There that was easy.

I think ND doesnt play well and UC steals a win (and yes, steal would be the right term considering ND's play at home- it would be an impressive win)

All this assuming Gates plays better. The guy has been hearing talk about his work ethic for a couple years now- you gotta think it clicks in eventually, right?

UC has yet to win a must win game in big east play since maybe the WVU game AK's year and I see that drought continuing.

Um, what? I don't necessarily disagree with the prediction, but please define "must win".

I'm not sure how a game, against a ranked team on the road, is a must win for a 16-2 team this early in league play. And if it is, we've surely had some must wins since AK left, cuz it sounds like your definition is any random game against any decent team.

I think Yancy is another BJ Grove! He will never get it! Thank God for Killa and Justin Jackson! I think the future looks bright![/COLOR]

"Memo to Gates/Thomas: ND is +10 in RB in W's and -7 in L's...14-0 when out RB opp, 0-4 when they are out RB this year." Quote from Lance's twitter.

Gates is averaging 5.4 rpg in BEast play and Thomas 6.3. Wilks 2.2rpg, Bishop 3.2, Jackson 1.7. That's 18.8 rebounds a game in league play from your 5 low post players. Just not going to win getting under 20 rpg from your post rotation.

LOL @ this being a "must win". REALLY??? 16-2 and playing a ranked opponent on the road. The never lose at home. Top 15 RPI. NOOOO waaay this is a must win.

Not a must win but I hope the team approaches it as a must win. I think the Bearcats pull this one out but it is close.

71-67 UC.
