I hear you and read the comments but I think this is just the natural talk that comes out after a loss. Louisville just played harder. Does this mean that all the other favorites that ended up losing like North Carolina and Kentucky also didn't come to play?

When shots don't fall early, it gets a team down. Don't discount either the amount of energy that was spend going to double OT against Georgetown and the emotional win against Syracuse.

Strongly agree. Players often look for a narrative when trying to explain something, especially after a loss. It has to be taken with a grain of salt.

If Yancy really saw this coming, he should have initially addressed it and forced the team to change courses...

Oh I think the 2 previous games had an emotional drain. All I'm doing is reporting what they said and throwing the possibility out there that maybe they were being honest.

We played like dookie, couldn't shoot and still nearly won. Louisville did not play great. Both teams were likely fatigued.
Could be a lack of focus, not from over-confidence, but perhaps, from just being tired.
As for the defense, their defense didn't make Parker go 1-7 from the line, our guards miss open 3's or not give it to Gates, when no one could stop him. Nor did they make Justin Jackson stay out on the floor, entirely too long, Dion Dixon take stupid shots or Cashmere Wright make dumb@ss passes.
They both played bad, we were slightly worse.

We played a bad game, it happens. That Lousiville team would not have beaten Georgetown or Syracuse or us in the previous nights.
None of that really matters though, does it?

On the upside, we won't be playing night after night, in the NCAA's.

I agree, we held them to 50 points. We played like crap but they weren't exactly lighting it up. I think the refs allowing way too much contact had alot to do with that.

I think it was clear we weren't as focused as we needed to be, whatever the reason. I think it was a combo of nerves and over-confidence. I don't really buy the being tired excuse. They played an extra game than us. I'm sure neither team was at 100% but I doubt they were less fatigued than us. I think fatigue can be blamed for some of the sloppiness and missed shots, but again that goes to both teams.

I do believe some of the postgame comments were just natural reactions and "player-speak" after a loss. But if Yancy really did see the team not focusing before the game he should have called them out and if Cash after three full seasons still believes that teams are going to give a game to us he has alot more issues than we all realize. It is more than clear that this team has issues with getting mentally ready for every game. I'm not sure how that is correctable. It's easy to blame the coach, but I don't think it's as easy as that. I fully believe Mick is ready for every game and lays out a solid game-plan. Players have to be able to be self-motivated for success. You have the eyes of the nation on you and you have the chance to win the next best title to a national championship at your fingertips. How are you not up for that? Hopefully this is a final wake-up call for us. Rather it had happened Saturday than this Friday.

Dont these people know my off day is Thursday. What kinda crap! Cant even watch or follow the game now

Exhaustion was a big factor in the Lousiville loss. Some of our missed free throws were so short. 3 intense games in a row and one of which was Double OT is something we weren't used to. It didn't stop Lousville...perhaps it was a factor for them...they just played better that day.

I was glad to see the Friday game for the extra day of rest.

Per his Twitter, Cronin has moved all the practices this week to 11am to prepare for the early start time on Friday.

The team has a trend of playing flat in early games. Love this idea.

This is a good idea. The only thing going in our favor for a 12:15 game is that it is an 11:15 game for Texas. Hopefully they like to stay up all night and not get ready for early games.
