Cats took care of business. This is really a blue collar team. Did not shoot well but played very good defense and got the win. With potentially the biggest game so far coming Sunday the cats stayed focused and got the job done. Love the mental toughness displayed by this squad. Mick's disappointment in their defense and his message after the UCONN game was taken to heart. Team guarded for 40 minutes got the win to set up the showdown with SMU. Simply this team finds ways to win. Not a lot of star power but lots of tough hardnosed competitors all focusing on the goal. Get the W!!! This is Coach Cronin's brand of basketball and I really enjoy it.

When we play at UCF next we need penetrate right at Taco and either draw a foul or pass to teammate. You want to take it right at a shot blocker. Gary did it the one time and went right by him. He is not fast at all and his conditioning is terrible. All he really has going for him is his height. Which he does use to his advantage if you let him, I will give him that. We need to make him play basketball and not just camp out under the basketball.

Evans and Washington came to play last night. Evans is still not hitting jumpers but man was he active last night. 6 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks and some nice back cutting for layups and alley oops. He can play some lock down D when he is challenged to.

Washington is just impressive on offense but he and Jacob combined for all 4 blocks and 8 total steals. Washington added 11 boards. I think they got the message from coach...but I hope it doesn't have to be given again.

Clark had 8 boards and 3 steals as well...he never takes a night off. Clark was obviously mentally affected by Tacko...can't happen next time. Tacko is a nice rim protector but the further he goes from the bucket the less effective he is and that starts around 6-8 feet or so.

Bring on SMU!

Like you I would like to see us be a bit more aggressive going to the bucket against him but if we just hit a few more open shots we blow them a way. We really had some open looks and did not knock down very many.

The game at UCF has the making to be even uglier than tonight. The way we shoot on the road, we will be lucky to get 50 if we play with the same game plan on offense.

I actually thought our offensive game plan was fine. Sure, we played a bit of slow-ball, but we got plenty of open looks. Just didn't connect on many. There was a point where Gary missed a couple threes, and the defense COMPLETELY backed off him, begging him to shoot. I think on an average night, with those looks, we'd score 70+. Not sure that'll happen at UCF, as we've certainly struggled to score on the road, so we'll see.

I couldn't agree more. It makes me a little nervous for the game there just because we usually don't shoot as well on the road. I loved our defensive effort last night. It was off the charts. Evans was all over the place and a big difference maker. Our ball pressure really hurt UCF.

I loved how Evans took Mick's advice and turned into a scorer and not a shooter last night. Big difference.

Just a cold night. We all had a feeling it would be an ugly win and I'd imagine it will be the same when we are in Orlando in a few weeks. Lets move on and start the SMU thread. This is what we have all been waiting for!

Clark refusing to shoot a few times made me want to scream. Can never happen again. He's come too far.

People thinking we are gonna shoot worse at UCF... really? Did you see how many open looks we missed last night, was one of our worst shooting games of the year and wouldn't say it was because of great defense. We moved the ball around and go it to the open man plenty, shots just weren't falling. Not saying we will shoot lights out when we face them next but I have a hard time believeing we shoot worse than we did last night.

Hopefully Brooks will be back and full go @UCF. Seems likely he will be. He will really bother Fall.
