UConn - Is It Possible

I thought this video would make people smile and bring back some great memories...or not so great haha But if you watch this whole video it would be nice to have a guy like JWill on this years team that could finish around the rim as well as have a decent shooting stroke.

Thanks for posting that video. That team never backed down and gave it their all. What's more, it really puts things in perspective and is a reminder of how far the program's come under Cronin. Regardless of what the team's record was while JWill and Co. were on the court, and regardless of how frustrating it may have been at the time, it was a pleasure watching them and I'm glad they're Bearcats.

Thanks for the video. I always really liked Williamson. Actually, I really liked that team in general. Marcus Sikes, Jamaal Warren, Vaughn, Mike Williams. Those kids gave it everything they had.

Only really big disappointment in that group was Williams. For being so highly touted and well regarded as a transfer for Texas, he was fine, but not great...

Edit: Sikes and Belton also never did much for us...

Well said sir!

Yeah, I think Williams had an Achilles injury that really hurt him. Didn't belton have like a spine injury or something that was kind of a freak accident. We have came a long way with the best still ahead. I am real excited for the incoming class.

Only 2 things I know about Belton-he actually played for the Ohio Bobcats the past 2 yrs. to finish out his eligibility and he had the ugliest looking free throw shot I've ever seen...

Here's an interesting story about him I found after a little research....

Personally, I don't think UC won the game today...they were gifted a win...this team is so frustrating at times...actually, most of the time...it is funny that u guys brought up Mick's early teams...I would kill for Warren and JW...the reason UC gets so many fouls is because they do not play smart...David N was slapping his opponent with "uppercut-like" slaps no where close to the ball...I could see that from upper deck of the Shoe'...Sanders played great today...it was another game where his opponent was basically shut down...I don't understand Shaq's inability to stay on the floor...it seemed like he had more rebounds than minutes...kid is never going to get confident if he is pulled after 2 minutes...Rubles should not have the ball in his hands (inbounding or dribbling) in the lat minutes...David N contributed a lot today, but I cannot remember seeing another D1 "big man" lose so many balls out of bounds or have worse hands...Cash can barely hit the rim from 17ft, let alone 27+ feet...respect his desire to be on the floor, but he is hindering this team...he is lucky he doesn't have a true backup...it kills me to be so negative, but I cannot see how anyone can walk away from today's game more confident in this team...they were coming off an embarrassing loss and they did not show any improvement in any facet of the game...

I liked Shaq's hustle (always do), but he had abut as much finesse today as Rubles. He got to the hoop but lacked the soft-touch follow through on his shots. Guess it's good that there are no pictures on the scorecard. I know he's got talent and moves from his HS records, but if he bulks up a little over the summer, he'll really be a force to be reckoned with. Sanders got a lot of minutes (22) which was nice to see. His high arcing shots are made for driving the lane and shooting over Bigs. Now all he has to do is Drive the Lane! He seems to have soft hands.

wtf??? "uc coaches forced him back to the court brfore he was ready and it nearly cost him his life"?

i highly doubt cronin would put someone life on the line to win a basketball game...exp with that squad.

after gifting a few wins for some teams, i'll gladly take a return

improvements i noticed today: defense was locked in from begging to end. movement off the ball. and most important...effort.

I don't understand why people can't give credit when a team plays poorly and guts out a win. UC shot 30.8% and won the game and they won the game by making big defensive plays. This team hasn't shot well since mid January. As I stated earlier this was a huge win for them fom a mental standpoint. They can prepare for Louisville coming off a gutsy win and with little to no pressure because frankly I think many believe they'll be beated by double digits. Let's give them some credit. They weren't handed anything, they earned it with their defensive play.

On a side note how about Jermaine Sanders yesterday? How big were his 9 points off the bench and 22 minutes of play?

Agreed especially your comment with Sanders. I noticed a couple times in the 2nd half he would catch the ball behind the 3 line, get to the free throw line, wide open then pass it out....he needs to be able to shoot that mid range shot or get to the basketball. I was impressed he actual beat his man off the dribble, get to the middle and then do nothing with it can't happen. We need him to gain more confidence because he can be a strong asset.

Yeah, that part sounded exaggerated.
