USF Game Tonight

I saw just a little of the game.

Thomas: No more threes.
Gates and Thomas: Need to rebound more
Wilks: Good job when he doesn't force bad shots or hack opposing players. (Good FTs)
JK: More minutes please
Cash: Drive and DISH..no more layup attempts

Cashmere's only problem is he gets in too deep before attempting the shot. He drew a lot of fouls tonight. Seems like a bench player steps up each game, Davis, then Wilks, then Kilpatrick....As long as they win, I do not care how they get it done. In my opinion, I don't think they played very well. Gates needs to get back to playing better defense(blocking shots like he was earlier in the year). Glad I got an Xbox 360, I watched the game on espn3, on my big screen tv, only wish the quality was better.

Let's not forget that Cash is playing with sore knees and a bad shoulder (separated it in the St. Francis game). I don't think he is getting the lift that he normally would and due to the shoulder is not finishing as well around the rim as he did earlier in the year. I thought Cash played well tonight and was money from the free throw line. The kid is playing with a lot of heart right now and will probably have to sit out a week to get healthy. Not sure which week would be best but I know he wants to gut it out as long as possible as long as he is not hurting the team.

The rebounding was really bad. South Florida does have a big front line but Gates has 3 boards and that never should happen.

Cash has to finish when he gets to the rim. Yes, he gets too deep, but he also had at least 3 really good looks. It looks to me like he throws the ball up instead of looking to finish the play. Draw contact yes, look for a 3 point play not just free throws.

Post defense was pretty good, but overall the defense was subpar.

Wilks and SK came to play. Give Jackson an offseason and 20 more pounds and he is going to be something. He thinks way too much at the line.

71% from the line last night. I'll take that every night. When Gates takes his time he shoots fairly well. Most of the time he seems disinterest shooting foul shots. Cash was big and Wilks 8-8 was a bonus.

I say play Kilpatrick 25 or more minutes. He is the one consistent offense threat you have and he understands the value of attacking the basket.

Overall it was a BEast win. I get the mental let down between the Nova game and playing the Cuse. Another coach says Cincinnati is for real and will be formidible all season long. South Florida reminds me of UC last season with all those close games. Jawanza Poland would have fit in well with this Bearcat team had he decided to play here instead of South Florida. Very athletic.
